Also about criminals - it's true that criminals can get their hands on guns, but typically the crazy people who go shooting in schools don't have the capacity to get illegal guns.

Put stricter laws to weed out crazies as I've suggested above, and you will see less school shootings. Also, people who already own guns should store guns locked so their unlicensed kids can't use them to kill other kids. It's not that difficult.

Thoughts in prayers for all those involved in this evil act , It just blows my mind what this world is coming too. Just another reason to carry a gun with you at all times , Too many freaks and just plain evil people out there, I am going to get my permit soon now ,

I trust my family a lot, but even then I have a lock on my rifle. Just common sense safety. Its there in case someone breaks in they don't have immediate access to my rifle
I don't even have the ammo and rifle in the same room

lets also have forms, and laws needed before you buy any type of knife/blade. Whether for kitchen use, or hunting.
and forms for buying alcohol
and before you buy every car
I mean I can't be the only one who heard of the stabbing spree that went on?

People are so focused on either banning guns, or not banning guns that they forget the middle ground.

Guns are fine if they're regulated and only given to sane outstanding citizens who are trained in gun safety. For the most part, Canada has achieved this even though there are more guns per capita in Canada than the US. Think about that.

we're creating a society devoid of morality, values, responsibility, and religion. a society based on if it feels good do it, right and wrong is relative, and me, me me.

and then act surprised when this kind of stuff becomes more and more common.

Criminals typically get guns to commit crimes other than random murders such as this. They may be robbers, hit men etc.

What we want to do is to get guns away from crazy people who commit random senseless killings. The laws that protect sane people from crazy people need to be revised. Crazy people should be banned from guns, and therefore police need to know about people with mental problems.

It's quite easy to do. Person obtaining gun must have a clean mental history, and must have references from 5 people who will be called to give an account of any history of violence or mental instability.
Here in california, there is a survey you must complete to purchase a firearm. Ive taken this survey. It is a background check that covers alot, from DUI's to mental instability. And with this there is a two week "cool down" period after you purchase the weapon. The cool-down period is there to help stop a person from going to a gunshop so he can shoot his ex, take out his rage, etc. I agree mentally unstable people should not be allowed to own a firearm, but whats to stop a mentally unstable person from stealing one? or buying one off craigslist under the counter? I agree stiffer laws need to be in place in all states, but there are limits to what laws can do.

I have a bunch of guns, but a gun is different from a knife. There's an emotional disconnect between pressing a trigger and stabbing someone. There's also a distance factor. I can run away from a guy with a knife easier than I can run away from a guy with a gun. That guy in China that stabbed 22 kids today didn't kill anyone.

If you want to avoid gun shootings in schools, you have to stop crazies and kids getting guns. Period. That doesn't stop you or I from getting guns, so why don't we accept that as a nice compromise that makes most people happy?

Maybe the schools need to change the way schools are accessed with key cards instead of open doors anyone can walk in from and start posting a couple of sheriff's deputies during school hours or allow the principal and at least one teacher to be armed at school.

He's 20, not 2, gun safety or not, it's not impossible for a 20 year old man to get a trigger lock off a firearm. Was she supposed to hide the drill and pliers too?

This situation was unavoidable. Even if there was an armed security guard at the school, or a police officer, this guy would have probably taken him out first.

This guy had access to the school, it appears as though he worked there.
