I think as December 21 approaches, the sickos / wacko's who believe the end date is near, are going to do more horrible acts like this!
I don't even want to turn the tv on, this is sad and crazy beyond belief.

I hope the rest of the sick bastards out there just do themselves in and leave society alone!

So senseless. I'm not blessed with fatherhood but I'm numb nonetheless.

I strongly disagree. Perhaps you should limit YOURSELF on playing video games. I have played games for hours on in, and have never been "desensitized." People react differently to different things. I dont think this guy went on a rampage after playing grand theft auto. I think he was a sick sadistic SOB, who got in a fight with his mother and decided to take it out on her and her students. And to everyone commenting on gun control, do you really believe this sort of thing would not have happened if stricter laws were in place? CRIMINALS DONT CARE ABOUT GUN LAWS, AND THEY WILL GET THEIR HANDS ON THEM IF THEY WANT THEM! Im also concerned about 12-21-2012. Ive seen programs on TV about doomsday preppers, and other apocalyptic zealots. And as we get closer to that date, I honestly believe more psychopaths will emerge trying to leave their mark in history.

This.

How did the psycho get his hands on guns in the first place? Could we have prevented people like this getting their hands on them?

no...just no...
and if you did want that, we can also blame stuff on tv and movies.
Maybe limit the amount of movies you can go to, to around 1 a month?
and only 30 min of tv a day?

yea...again no

We need to stop making them famous. When they take a life or in this case MANY. They become a number. They will be known to Law enforcement of course, but to the media they are just a NUMBER. No 15 Minutes OF fame. No way can they become a cult hero of any kind. Make them Invisible. What’s sad are the times we live in the STRESS of MONEY the STRESS of our JOBS trying to make ends met? Feed our Families. Pay our Bills. I read once December is the most stressful time of year and Highest Suicide rates. Nothing makes what happened today understandable! We need to take a look at the COUNTRY today! We need to get a handle on what we are doing to each other.

If he was determined enough, he could get a gun. Criminals and thugs in the UK (a "gunless" country) have tons of them. You can ban guns, but they will still be used by criminals.

I have debated this point before (just because I was given this side to debate), but it is a false argument.

Criminals typically get guns to commit crimes other than random murders such as this. They may be robbers, hit men etc.

What we want to do is to get guns away from crazy people who commit random senseless killings. The laws that protect sane people from crazy people need to be revised. Crazy people should be banned from guns, and therefore police need to know about people with mental problems.

It's quite easy to do. Person obtaining gun must have a clean mental history, and must have references from 5 people who will be called to give an account of any history of violence or mental instability.

Why didn't his mama put a trigger lock and lock up the ammo? Sounds like mama doesn't know gun safety.
