The Challenger isn't outdoing anything. It's huge, slow, and still exactly the same as it was when it first came out.

Back when I bought my Z28 in '98, I had quite a bit of contempt for Mustangs and Ford in general. At the time I'd never think I'd own one, let alone two. Obviously my viewpoint has changed over the years. Come to think of it, I'm not really crazy about the majority of GM's, Ford's or Chrysler's lineup as it stands these days, aside from their V-8 (or 10) powered RWD vehicles that aren't trucks or SUVs. Otherwise, I'd be looking at Germany, Japan or South Korea for my automotive needs.

In my opinion, with so many Camaros and Mustangs built in so many variations and owned by so many people over the past 40+ years, to denigrate either car or their owners is to paint them with a rather large brush and isn't really fair. Also, bashing either one simply because they happen to be common on the roads is pretty ridiculous. Both of these cars are and have always been marketed as affordable sports cars for the masses - if you want exclusivity, look elsewhere (or buy a ZL1/Boss/GT500).

With regards to looks, it's all subjective. When I was considering both cars to replace my '06 GT, looks hadn't really entered into the equation. IMO, both can be quite dull on the outside; a light-colored base V6 Mustang or LS Camaro for instance, doesn't really do anything for me. On the other hand, I do like a clean Brembo-packaged GT with factory HIDs in a darker color without the fake side/hood scoops and window louvers that are all too common on today's Mustangs. Similarly, a darker-hued SS/RS would definitely grab my attention. If I saw a Boss 302, ZL1 or GT500, I'd probably have to ensure that there's no drool coming out of my mouth...

What? Hardly, especially the SRT8. You may want to research that, especially the 11 upgrades and even the running 12 and 13 upgrades, and not to mention the 6.4 SRT8 that is nearly as quick as a ZL1 for 10k less.........

This^^^

At the moment I am a Mustang guy more than a Camaro guy. What I hate is brand loyal blind fan boys and that goes for both sides. I dont care for people that only bleed ford blue and I dont care for bow tie faithfuls. I am a enthusiast, I like all performance cars.

Im not sure what your point is...thats 3 MY of cars. You realize that mustang sales are almost double camaro sales over the lifetime of the vehicle so seeing more mustangs is natural. Also given demographics some areas have many mustang buyers and very few Camaro buyers and vice versa, So again...whats your point?

Even if we are talking current gen the mustang had 5 years of sales before the 5th gen even came out...so seeing a ton of the same gen mustang is more likely.

The "current gen" IMO started with the 2010 MY. What's the point in comparing previous gen cars? When people say they see more and more Camaros on the road, they're not talking about the 1980s version obviously, so the same should apply to Mustangs.

If you're comparing "current gen" then it's 2010+ Mustang vs 2010+ Camaros, and therefore there are more Camaros on the road and yet people keep talking as if every second car on the road is a Mustang.

And if they're including previous gen Mustangs then what's the point of saying there are so many Mustangs? You can't BUY the previous gen Mustangs new any more so therefore it's not even a factor in any purchasing decision.

"There's so many mustangs on the road that can't even be bought any more, therefore I bought a Camaro" - is that what people are trying to say?

It's a stupid illusion in people's heads to justify their purchase. It's a delusion to think you have an exclusive car because current gen with current gen, there are more Camaros on the road period.

I don't get it either. I see people on this site bragging about 2 things.

1. They have a camaro and its less common then mustangs which is why they chose Camaro.

then they say this

2. camaro outsells mustang again!!!!!!

Really???? That makes 0 sense. Your happy the camaro outsells the mustang, but at the sametime try to say there are more Mustangs than camaros. but there are way more 10+ Camaros on the road than 10+ Mustangs.

I'm a muscle car fan. I have never personally owned a Camaro though. I have owned 6 Mustangs so i don't hate them at all. When I sold my last mustangs i was looking at getting a C6 but ended up being sensible and getting a Volvo S60R. Next car that I get will be another American Muscle car im just not sure which one LOL.
