High doses long term have been associated with esophageal cancer... I would suggest asking your doc for a prescrition for Protonix (generic is pantoprazole, it's fairly inexpensive). It has fewer drug interactions, may work once a day for you. If your insurance balks at it, your doc can call and tell them you've failed Prevacid and Prilosec. Another option is to take Prilosec or Prevacid in the morning and Zantac (also available as an OTC generic) at night. They work by different mechanisms, so it might do the trick!
