Dang of all places to attempt the 200 mph test it was in Arizona when it's hot here..They should have done it in the mid spring or late fall to perform that test.

I think the track comparison is going to be alot closer than people think, especially if it's a pro driver. They might be able to get the GT500 around a track as fast or possibly faster than a ZL1 depending on the track setup. On the other hand, if it's just the average driver going to the track the first time, I think that they would be able to get better times with the ZL1 than the GT500.

I agree. On fast tracks I think the gt500 might have an advantage while on slower ones I think the zl1 will. The ZL1 is going to hold more speed through the corners, but the gt500 accelerates and stops quite a bit faster. If there are long straights the gt500 is going to be hauling major ass.

Yeah, I'm looking forward to taking my ZL1 out to High Plains Raceway (track map below) once it's broken in. Hope to see some new GT500's out there. I'm guessing with that huge straight away they would walk away from me before I know it. But there are a decent amount of twisties too. Also looking forward to seeing both at Bandimere. I'm guessing that this elevation I should be happy if I could get into the high 12's. I saw alot of what I assume is mostly stock SS Camaro's running low 14's there at the beginning of May.

You should have no problem getting into the 12s at Bandi in decent weather, but I wouldn't expect much beyond mid 12s. The N/A cars suffer a lot more than the forced induction cars up here, though you're still going to be quite a bit slower than you would be at sea level.

I've heard that supercharged cars suffer more than turbos at elevation too. Any truth to that?

Yes, the turbo can handle thinner air and compensate better than a supercharger can.

Plenty should be eating it with a side of humility based on all the second coming BS that was flying around.. There's a difference between being proud of one's brand of choice and being a pretentious arse about it.. Many were being the latter and it's come around to bite them.

It is getting power to the ground and it's running about .5 sec faster in the 1/4 w/ 8+mph faster trap speeds. But it should....it's got 82HP on the ZL1 and it also weighs 300 lbs less.

For the most part, I've seen far more mustang forums talking crap about us and GM/Chevy than what goes on here.
Most of them are getting what they feel is payback for the actions I described in my reply above. You can't go about telling the world how your upcoming car is going to slaughter a particular model, beat the drum incessantly and then expect those you taunted to not come laughing at you when you fail to live up to your own hype.

Had the car been preceded with a level of intelligent commentary and respectful desire, things would have been different. Maybe this will be a lesson learned for all sides on how to act in the future.

That's what I'm talking about. No need for the hatred on the Mustang side of the fence either. This HP war is just awesome. Ford has won this battle , but when GM answers back (which they better) the Camaro might win the next battle. Either way, everyone is winning with amazing cars that people probably never expected to come out in the times we live in.

Possible hint to 2015 Styling of next Stang!

Beautiful concept! There have been many renders off the Evos concept. Some nice, some horrid. But it will be similar to this concept. Love it or hate it! Mustang will toss retro to appeal to a broader and younger market. That leaves Camaro and Challenger to fight over the retro market. The new Cuda by SRT will also be smaller and less retro.
