And this is not an existing model. It's a rebadged Holden VF Commodore. GM themselves confirmed the name was simply "SS." Did you read the press release?
Sorry, didn't read but saw the pic,but this is not the pic I'm referring to. It's more like this back in 2004-5?Name: Scan_Pic0003.jpg

I am trying to stay in the family.... Wife has Denali, The Toy my SS/current daily driver soon to be ZL1 Vert, and I will need a new daily driver. We are thinking about the 300 SRT8, but I would love to have a big luxury high horsepower, rear wheel drive GM. I can't afford a CTS-V and ZL1 so I hope this new SS can match the Charger/300 SRT8 cars.

That's not a GM concept. That's either just a random Photoshop or a design study a bored designed cooked up. Nothing official.

I think that one is from a magazine, based on an orange one that was more or less a piece of fan art. I could be wrong though, I wasn't following the Camaro a whole lot back then.

I'd rather get any of the current V8 powered Chrysler 300c's or Dodge Chargers than this "non-Camaro" SS.

That is a NASCAR, it has nothing in common with the production car other than it will have an "SS" sticker on it. I am not the biggest fan of the name but I do not get the rush by so many people to damn the car. All we know about it is that it is 4 door, with be V8 powered through the rear wheels, and based on the SWB VF Commodore. To me that sounds like something I would be interested in owning.

While the car in the picture released by GM is heavily camoflauged and does not reveal much, I'd say that will be pretty indicative of the production version. Look at Dodge and Ford's 2013 NASCAR offerings...

All major aspects (which are the only things we can get from it) are the same between the 3 race cars. Only a few things on the skin are different, and its that skin thats been hidden by camo. It won't be telling us anything about how the productoin version will look.

Did you see the pictures I posted? NASCAR is phasing in a new car in 2013, and they have given the auto manufacturers room for brand identity again. Are you telling me you think the charger and fusion look alike?

The magazine article I read said that the SS is a code name. They are still deciding whether they want to resurrect a prior name, or use a new one. I guess some people are hoping for "Chevelle". from what I understand, the SS does stand for Sport Sedan, but I agree it is confusing. Hopefully GM learned it's lesson with badge engineering, and will design this new car to look differently than the Commadore. Chrysler is doing will with their ressurected nameplates (Challenger, Charger, Dart, hell even the 300), hopefully Chevy will take notice.

I love our G8 GT and would gladly buy another GM product like it.

Speed channel had it on last night that the car will be called the SS.
