The shifts are smooth in the 5.0, especially the 1-2 shift. The power is there, the ride is a little harsher and it feels small inside the cabin. Overall I like the car.

I test drove both the camaro convertilbe and mustang convertible with the premium interior.
I chose the camaro over the mustang. With the mustang convertible, there is awful cowl shake and the ride is alot rougher due to the solid fixed rear axle(not independant like the camaro) The mustang is faster out of the blocks as it is a much lighter car. I also liked the mustang premium interior more than the camaros, but chose the camaro for the exterior styling and overall driveability comfort. I have some good friends with mustangs and I respect and admire their rides as much as they repect and admire mine. In the end , it is all a personal preference. |

Ahh that would be why the interior sucked, your friend bought the Mustang with the 400a (which is equal to the Camaro) interior package not the much better 401a (which doesn't suck horse ****s)

Look I'm not trying to start a mustang/camaro war here.......
but it really gets to me when people complain about "all the plastic" that's in the Camaros dash. Please reference the below picture Are these parts of the mustang's dash not all made of some type of plastic? |

Having owned a 2011 5.0 for 5 months, I'm gonna have to disagree with most everything you said. Respectfully of course. The clutch in the mustang was amazing. The ride was very shaking and unsettled but it was surefooted and corned very well. The seats were very soft and I liked them quite a bit, although the camaro does fit better for me. My 5.0 only had the 3.31 gear and I'm pretty sure it would dust my camaro easily in stock form. And as for interior quality, the camaro is way behind the mustang. My mustang was a premium model and had a very nice interior for such an inexpensive car.

Corrected that for you The dash is foam not plastic. The Steering Wheel pieces except the Airbag cover (for obvious reasons) are aluminium, of course the knobs are plastic. The Dash Inserts are Aluminium, not sure about the gauges but I believe they too are metal. I don't think anyone here is saying the Mustangs interior is completely devoid of plastic, to assume that would be asinine what we are saying is that the Mustangs interior isn't made entirely out of plastic like the Camaro... Unless you get the Cheapskate Edition like your friend.... |

Unless you have the premium, Mustangs still use the exact same AC/heat controls I had in my 93 GT. I think the exterior styling is ok, but second to the Camaro. The interior parts seem just stuck on with lots of space between panels. They placed the center console totally wrong..you're never comfortable with your arm resting on it and your driver leg rubs on the dash piece if you have the seat in a comfortable position. I've driven two 5.0s and both have a clunky not pinned down sound and feel when you go over bumps..Camaro is much more solid. The stangs are fast, but not noticeably faster than the Camaro...close race IMO. Both are good cars, but the Mustang suspension is definitely outdated....yes, it can be made to corner but at the expense of comfort for the driver and passenger...way too stiff. It would certainly be my second choice if there was no Camaor!

Okay let me put it this way then, Ford uses much better materials to hide the fact that there is tons of plastic in the interior... I'm not going to argue this any further the Mustang has much better interior materials whether or not there is plastic underneath is irrelevant as you are just using that to try and disprove the well established fact that the Camaro's interior materials suck. People don't complain about something if it's not a problem and lots of people have complained about the Camaro's interior. Sure the Camaro is bringing the Muscle Car into the 21st century with the way it performs but I'm sorry they are stuck in the 20th with the interior, they are only just giving a navigation system as an option and it happens to look like its out of the freaking 1990's. For christ sakes the Dodge Dart has a better interior.... |
