Like SSooch this is my opinion......people always tend to lump Riced up Cars into one category and it is mainly the import crowd...That has always intrigued me and for this reason......

Mostly younger generation people are into import cars ( Ricers) and I actually have alot of friend who are into that genre of cars...Of course like most I asked WHY would you want a HONDA Civic........

I was quite amazed at the repsonse I got......... 9 times out of 10 the reason was FINANCES ( MONEY) Most 'Ricers" are younger as I said earlier and they can't afford a new Camaro, Mustang, Challanger and then afford to modify it till their hearts content...simply does not add up financially.

I would be willing to bet that most Camaro Owners on this site are in their middle ages, more financially stable and pretty much set up in life with houses, jobs, etc.......

Import folks love cars, the surely love the new muscle cars but cant afford them....so as a car enthusiast what are they to do?....Well they go the cheap route...imports because they are cheap to buy, cheap to mod, cheap to fix when they break, they make BIG power and have very little weight....But isn't the point of having younger people into cars instead of other things?

I have seen a 750 FWHP Civic that will take most cars on this site....it is boosted, nitrous and all the toys....While Honda Civics, Evo's etc... are not my cup of tea, I think it is preety cool at the power they make and that these "kids" are " CAR" enthusiast instead of some punk kids running around acting like King Thug.

Some will say they act like idiots...granted there are some in the crowd who act like idiots but as with any crowd you will always have some that make the group look bad. My 15 soon to be 16 yr old son would absolutely love to have my SS....he will be getting a Honda, a USED Very Used Honda...If he chooses to add power modifiers to it then it will be on his dime but it is something that he can afford and he will definitely learn about cars at a much cheaper clip than a new or even old muscle car.

Of course this is just my opinion and mods are in the eye of the beholder...Some modded Camaros look like crap but the owner likes them so who am I to say what they should look like.

Kids ( and Adults) go through fads, this we all know but I, for one, are glad they are into cars instaed of other things that they could be into. JMHO
You think that was cheap to make? I HIGHLY doubt that.

I also highly doubt that they like muscle cars but just cant afford one. Last I looked a 4th Gen LT1 is pretty affordable. 3rd gens are really affordable.

they like there cars we like ours. I am 23 and am on my 2nd carmaro. owned a firebird formula and a Pontiac G8 GT. Closest I got to the "tuner" crowd would of been my 01 grand prix GTP.

If they wanted a "muscle car" they would find a way to get one in there price range.

anyways Im not against "tuners" they have some pretty sick ones but to say they are cheaper to build and this and that I think is incorrect.

If you read the fouth paragraph in Johns post he said 'New Camaro, mustang or Chally'.

And cheap to mod is true until you hit the big power mods. Of course the big power cars are not cheap. But, my sons friends have little Hondas they picked up for 500.00 and put boom boxes in with a spoiler and bumper cover with a big exhaust tip, some black tape on the headlights. Looks well moded for under 1000.00.

I guess the point is in the ricer community 'Moded' is an accepted term for anything you do. So YES, 'modding' can be MUCH cheaper.

I thought it was funny. Just see it as a joke.

I'm short but I don't get upset at short jokes.

I've had both imports and muscle cars. I'm only 29, my last car was a G35 that I supercharged, did an exhaust, carbon fiber hood and went back and forth between bumpers. We all have our opinion about what a ricer is. Here's a few things I've noticed over the years. One, there probably isn't a person on here who hasn't seen a modified import and thought that it was nice looking. There is a point at which it can be overly modified, but there is also a point at which it does improve on look, sound and performance. If you tell yourself no, then you're lying to yourself. Look at the ACR Viper as an example, which was posted on here as a pic, granted, I'm not a fan of Vipers, however look at what Dodge did to modify it, I will say it does look good and that it is stock. It is appealing to the eyes for some. When an import does it, some think that it's overkill.

Just some food for thought.
