my friend used to drive around in a 4cyl sunfire with vinyl graphics down its sides, a hood with 4 scoops, 20" rims, and 2 SEPARATE spoilers. One high up and ricer style, and the stock spoiler... no joke. It was hideous.

Why would an aftermarket 3" pipe be considered rice on an asian car but not on a camaro? They both don't have any performance increase and only serves to create a sound that the driver likes. Heck, I've seen spoilers on here that looks like it would create more drag than actually spoiling wind.

There's a lot on here that puts on giant wheels on their car that makes the car worse than stock in handling and accel... but people don't call that rice. Yet I'm sure if I were to post a civic si on here with similar wheels, it would be bashed on left and right.

Same for lights. AAC creates respected products on here, but I remember people going on about how "rice" a car was with all these various lights when Fast and the Furious was out.
I see someone had a nerve touched.

i've seen some Camaro's with outrageous paint scheme's, but can't remember seeing any in person that were overdone with wing's.

Just think...you can get one of your own wings for your Camaro too! And, we'd probably all laugh at you.

I mean...it means business!

"Building on the wildly popular Terminator™ Line of E-Racing Wings, our Terminator 2™ Universal wings has gained some notoriety around town and on the track. This Extreme wing is one of our most popular. And for good reason...it gets noticed and says you mean business!"

Not, all wings on FWD cars are pointless... They do help plant the back end down when on a track... such as the "ring"... Look at the Cobalt SS, both the TC and the SC. Both have a GIANT wing on the back. They were placed there to improve time around the Ring when GM was testing them. The Cobalt SS/SC used to hold the record until the SS/TC came out and destroyed it.

I also have my own experience with this... I have a Cobalt SS/SC, that I removed the wing off of (I have to admit, it's UGLY) but the car handles amazingly different... and not for the better... I can acutely feel the back end move around a lot more when running around my local Road Course.

and in case you all don't know what wing i'm talking about:
(that's my car before I removed the wing)

Back on Topic... I have to agree MOST aftermarket high rise wings are ugly... but if the owner likes it.. more power to them... I like to compare High Rise Spoilers to Frow Hawks / Mullets, They are Super ugly, but get you noticed in a crowed.

About 5 years ago, I worked with a guy that tuned up and modded up a cavalier, and he was really into the sound system, getting as much bass from the subs to make the earth shake under our feet. I needed help wiring up a cd player in my 84 Monte, and went over to his place with it one morning after working the midnight shift. He had a bunch of buddies there already with all kinds of modded up late model cars, civics, sunfires, whathaveyou.
Here I am with what I like to think is the last of the Chevy V8 rear wheel drives that wasn't a sports car, and one of his buddies came up to me and said, I bet that has a heck of a lot of trunk space. I knew where he was headed, so I amused him, and popped the trunk and man did he ever have a field day as to all the toys that can be put in there to make some loud music. Thing is, that I like to hear the tunes, but I really like to hear the motor. Even then with my tired 305, she could drown out their cars motor wise and the exhaust smelled fantastic! I told them that I appreciated their ideas on what I could do with the car, but I didn't want to get kicked out of the muscle car segment....meaning I didn't want to get accused of ricing up my Monte. No big spoilers, no big rims and no big bass cannons or subs....well maybe one or 2 modest ones, but the space in the trunk is more useful for loading kegs of beer, or bodies lmao jk Not many drive in movie theaters left in my neck of the woods to do that anymore....

Mustang owners aren't the only ones to do this. I've seen viper and vettes have them too.

This is a very interesting subject this thread has turned into...Riced Up cars.

Like SSooch this is my opinion......people always tend to lump Riced up Cars into one category and it is mainly the import crowd...That has always intrigued me and for this reason......

Mostly younger generation people are into import cars ( Ricers) and I actually have alot of friend who are into that genre of cars...Of course like most I asked WHY would you want a HONDA Civic........

I was quite amazed at the repsonse I got......... 9 times out of 10 the reason was FINANCES ( MONEY) Most 'Ricers" are younger as I said earlier and they can't afford a new Camaro, Mustang, Challanger and then afford to modify it till their hearts content...simply does not add up financially.

I would be willing to bet that most Camaro Owners on this site are in their middle ages, more financially stable and pretty much set up in life with houses, jobs, etc.......

Import folks love cars, the surely love the new muscle cars but cant afford them....so as a car enthusiast what are they to do?....Well they go the cheap route...imports because they are cheap to buy, cheap to mod, cheap to fix when they break, they make BIG power and have very little weight....But isn't the point of having younger people into cars instead of other things?

I have seen a 750 FWHP Civic that will take most cars on this site....it is boosted, nitrous and all the toys....While Honda Civics, Evo's etc... are not my cup of tea, I think it is preety cool at the power they make and that these "kids" are " CAR" enthusiast instead of some punk kids running around acting like King Thug.

Some will say they act like idiots...granted there are some in the crowd who act like idiots but as with any crowd you will always have some that make the group look bad. My 15 soon to be 16 yr old son would absolutely love to have my SS....he will be getting a Honda, a USED Very Used Honda...If he chooses to add power modifiers to it then it will be on his dime but it is something that he can afford and he will definitely learn about cars at a much cheaper clip than a new or even old muscle car.

Of course this is just my opinion and mods are in the eye of the beholder...Some modded Camaros look like crap but the owner likes them so who am I to say what they should look like.

Kids ( and Adults) go through fads, this we all know but I, for one, are glad they are into cars instaed of other things that they could be into. JMHO
