Next Generation Hummer Engine Cancelled

Here is a picture of the engine GM had planned for the next generation of Hummers before the economy went south and gas prices went up.The towing capacity would have been significantly increased.

I've seen similar engines before...I have no idea why they're built, or what they do besides shock and awe! They've got to be some sort of industrial power plant....

Is that a turbo housing in the top right corner of the picture? If it is, pfffft- weaksauce- they need MORE CI so they can NA that bitch.

Ship engine most likely. If you're using a diesel generator that size, you might as well go with a boiler/turbine setup. The work platforms and the 102 rpm redline make it unlikely for a gargantuan heavy haul dump truck. So I'd say its for a meduim sized cargo or cruise ship. Engines get a lot bigger than that.
