massive undertaking. however, a 6 month supply of food for a small city being distributed to only a handful of people could last for quite a while
Sure, it would be quite the undertaking. Once you get it, you would most likely have to go through it to make sure the carrier is entirely zombie free(your talking a 4,000 person capacity here). Once it is determined safe, settle down a bit and get your senses together. Now your main goal is to head to a shipping port. Shipping containers can hold massive amounts of resources. A fully loaded barge even more so, though finding one might be difficult. If jacking a barge fails, go after the containers on land. Don't forget about the aircraft. Helicopters can be used for getting the shipping containers from land to the carrier. With some chains, all you need to do is send someone down from the chopper onto the container. This person then secures the container(think of that scene in Avatar when they move the terminal). Choppers can also be used for the dirt and animals.

You could probably make a whole thread on what you could do with a carrier in a zombie apocalypse.

On a side note, if the zombies are fast like in 28 Days Later, you can pretty much kiss your ass goodbye.

Biggest consideration is AMMO, WATER, SHELTER, FOOD....

Ammo will (would) be a big concern because you can only carry so much. Even in a vehicle your limited and when you run out you have to either resupply or be able to reload it. You can live longer without food than water, while shelter from the eliments
and danger is a must.
Plan A would be shelter in place! Lock down and stay low. Have enough ammo, water and food to last atleast a month or more. I keep over 5,000 rounds of .45/5.56/.308 on hand in each caliber. Water and food store will remain private. Keeping people to a minimum or those that you can trust would be important. Someone unknown or lurking is a potential issue. Sorry your DEAD!
Plan B would be have a bug out area set. Somewhere with minimal traffic (pedistrian/vehicle) good vantage points, high ground with limited access. Potable water and ability to grow food or live of the land

Actually, the more I think of it, I think if you could survive the first 2 days, the '28 days' style zombie would be easier to live through.

You'd really only need to stay hidden for about a month or 2 and eventually they would all starve to death. Because technically, they were alive.

Actual Zombies would be an eternal threat because they never die and who knows how long it would take for them to rot? They might 'live' for years, depending on the climate and such.

Yeah, just don't kiss your zombie wife, and that whole movie wouldn't have happened.
