I would pay 40k for a volt before I would pay 20k for that piece of crap.

At least the volt looks nice and has a sporty feel.

I understand that there is a niche of buyers out there, but 6000 people in a little less than a year is not going to support an entire car line. If that's all it took, the Camaro wouldn't have been discontinued in 2002, and Oldsmobile, Pontiac, Saturn, and Hummer would all still be here.

Yes, the price will come down, but there is a limit to how much it can come down. A vehicle with several hundred pounds of batteries and essentially two powertrains will always be substantially more expensive than a conventional vehicle. And until the battery pack can make it to about 15 years and 200K miles without any meaningful degradation or loss or charge capacity, the conventional car will last a lot longer with substantially lower total costs for replacement parts as well.
