Most runners don't lift weights, you never see them in the gym. They wonder why they get hurt so easily. You get the calf muscles strong, the impact of running doesn't get absorbed by the joints.

I never have been one to lift weights or excersize really..... physical job + playing ice hockey is enough for me..... Just joking around at a guys house one night after a HS football game, I picked up the heaviest weight he had (65lbs) and curled it on the spot..... never lifted weights in my life . I later lifted up the front end of the kids car...... it was a '82 toyota.... not saying much

I lift 50-90lbs daily for 10 hours or so at work....... no need to lift weights elsewhere.... and I get paid to do it (plus I can't move usually when I get home)

Its worth it in so many ways. I drink probably too much and eat some really bad foods from time to time. But since I life and run like I do, I always come out with a clean bill of health on every annual check up.
