It's selling well for their initial targets, I believe. Compared to the industry? Genesis is nothing.

Pretty soon Hyundai is going to have to learn that you can't be a mainstream automaker and try to build luxury cars. There's a reason all the major automakers have luxury arms. The market fixates on your volume product (in Hyundai's case, the Elantra/Sonata), and expects that to be your typical pricepoint. When you start asking for $30k+ for a near luxury sedan when everyone expects you to sell $20k mainstream sedans, you'll have a lot of customers laughing their way to another dealer.

I like Hyundai's approach to the auto industry today. They appeal on all levels, from basic economy cars to competitve performance cars.
As for a V8 Genesis Coupe, I think it will be faster than a Mustang GT and Camaro SS in acceleration. I'm not sure about handling performance though since Hyundai's suspension and ride quality seems to have poor reviews in the past couple of years.
I don't think the V8 coupe will sell well. It's safe to bet that over 80% of potential Hyundai buyers are just looking for a reliable sedan/SUV for a decent price to get them from point A to point B. Most people won't be interested in a V8 performance coupe......simply because Hyundai has not been known for selling performance cars in the past.

That's not what their financials and sales figures say. Hyundai/Kia is looking very good from a business perspective.

The handling is quite good, especially with the RSpec or Track model, on those 2 models the ride does take a bit of a hit as being a little too firm. Personally the 13 coupe has really caught my eye, but the 271 HP turbo 4.I wouldn't be surprised if this refresh has suspension upgrades to quell the ride qualms.

Agreed on all fronts. I really love the BRZ and a turbo version would be too sweet.

hyundai's little sports car is a sales-failure. And I decided to test-drive one a while back, a few months after it first came out. I thought it was Fugly, expensive,...and there's a reason it's lighter...it's SUCH a tin-can to drive...

I don't know how you can consider it a failure. All you stated was your opinion.

...well, both the sedan and coupe versions of the genesis sold a total of 3000 units last month...I can't determine how many were coupes/sedans, but in either case that's a small fraction of the number of vehicles Ford and Chevy sold, each. Vehicles it attempts to compete against in the marketplace...In fact, it's even less than the number of Challengers sold last month.

That's why I consider it a failure in the marketplace.

But you're right - the rest of what I posted was my opinion.
