It's interesting I guess but Geographicaly stupid. Where's the pride in location? Who cares who's the strongest or second strongest conference. It's all a crap shoot anyway.

And West Virginia beat the CRAP out of OU.

I think they are trying to get Missouri to stay, plus they upped the out fee in the Big East to 10 million last week.

Up late tonight finishing some work and saw this on CBSsports.com...looks like the Mizzou to the SEC thing was ready to go back on Oct 22nd and someone screwed up and posted this overnight.....

Leaked SEC statement welcomes Missouri to league

Barring someone having pulled off the new Guinness world's record for Most Convincing April Fool's prank in late October, the SEC is (or was) poised and ready to welcome Missouri to the league this coming (or past) Monday--as an introductory statement dated Oct. 22 leaked on the conference's own website made clear late Thursday night.

The statement includes references to an announcement yet-to-be made by Mike Slive, links to related introductory Missouri content, and July 1, 2012 specified as the date in which the Tigers would officially join the league. As of 11:40 ET Thursday night, the page appeared on the official "SEC Digital Network" site like this:

The page and all associated content had been removed by 11:55 ET.

If it wasn't already safe to assume Missouri was headed to the SEC before, it certainly is now. The July 1 date would also corroborate the news dropped by Slive Thursday that the league was still aiming for the Tigers to join before the 2012 football season.

The questions now are: if the announcement had been planned last Monday, what kept the SEC and Missouri from releasing it? And now that we know Missouri's acceptance is a mere formality, how long until the league (and the Tigers) drop the pretense?

The statement reads in part:
Given the ever-changing conference paradigm over the past year, the Southeastern Conference has continued to demonstrate its commitment to maintaining its stature as one of the nation’s premier conferences by welcoming the University of Missouri as the league’s 14th member, Commissioner Mike Slive announced Monday.

Missouri joins Texas A&M University as the league’s two new institutions who will begin full membership on July 1, 2012. It is the first expansion of the SEC membership since Arkansas and South Carolina joined the conference in 1992 ...

Geographically, it is a natural fit as the state of Missouri touches more states (Arkansas, Kentucky and Tennessee) that currently are home to an SEC institution than any other state that is not in the league’s previous 13-member footprint. Like the majority of the cities in the SEC, Columbia, Mo., is a college-centered town with a metropolitan population of 164,283, making it the fifth-largest city in the state of Missouri ...

Missouri is one of only 35 public U.S. universities invited to membership in the prestigious Association of American Universities (AAU). It will become the fourth SEC school that is part of the AAU, joining Florida, Texas A&M and Vanderbilt.

Monday’s announcement marks just the fourth time in the history of the conference that the SEC will expand its membership. In a landscape that has seemed ever-changing in recent years, the SEC has exemplified stability as 10 of its original 13 members remain.

I think the problem with Missouri is the SEC wants then for 2012 but the BIG 12 wants it to be 2013 as not to lose their BCS tie in......

Well, this morning, WVU was officially accepted into the Big 12.....AGAIN....but nothing is being said officially about Mizzou yet. The Big 12 is saying WVU will play in the conference next season while the Big East wants WVU to wait for the mandated 27 months before they leave.

With TCU and WVU on board for next year...that's 10 teams so the BCS tie in is safe.

I guess the Mizzou announcement should be in the next few days perhaps?

So, Texas will play Texas Tech on Thanksgiving for next year at least. It's interesting that TTU asked for the game AFTER Texas said it's schedule was full and "couldn't" schedule A&M.

Can't we all just get along?

Again as I said in a previous post. NO TEXAS school is about to Give A&M a game on the schedule or future schedule anytime soon.
You signed a contract with the big12 then you say BYE and leave the rest of the schools to deal with yalls mess ?
But its Texas Fault they are Greedy!!!!!! REally why are you going to the SEC ?????? Money roflmao
It took SMU's June jones to put yall on SMU's schedule to Keep A&M playing someone in The state of Texas.

Sounds like to me No one really cares about A&M after all lol

So after this years game sing your war hymn as we Wave Goodbye.

I'm sure we will play again lol Maybe then your fight song will actually make sense.

Yeah, I got all that from you before. I was simply commenting that Tech is playing in the Thanksgiving game for next year and didn't know if everyone knew yet. I found the point about the timing of the agreement interesting. Just trying to pass on information, didn't mean to get your panties in a bunch about it.

Personally, I would prefer A&M doesn't schedule a Thanksgiving game. It screws with the normal season schedule having that short week. Keeping a normal Saturday schedule like most schools is fine by me. If the T-sippers are so put off that they can't have what they want and control everything in the Big12, oh well.

Yeah, cause TTU is a conference game that Texas would have played regardless of whether A&M was in the conference or not.

Seriously Aggies, stop whining about not getting to keep your holy game against Texas.

Texas has had their non-conference schedule booked through 2018 since long before A&M started entertaining the idea of leaving the Big XII.

Why should Texas screw over someone we already have a signed contract with just to fulfill the Aggie wet dream of continuing an out-dated, and massively lopsided rivalry?

You made your bed and left the Big XII, now lie in it.

Oh, also Jekyll I forgot to ask...

You do realize that the second verse of "Texas Fight" is"and it's goodbye to A&M", right?

Sort of the same there, huh?

Thats great info Skooter....TTU is a conference game and they would play anyway....no shit.

Again, the point was is that it was interesting that TTU would volunteer for the game for 2012 and change their schedule, that was it.

No one here is whining about the game. Just passing along information. Both sides are pissy with each other right now and they might get back to it in a few years. I doubt they ever play against each other before 2020.

Massively lopsided rivalry? Have you checked the UT vs. TTU record? Even with A&M being a private military school and fielding a team of cadets for the first 70 years of its existence, they have a better record against Texas.
