Remember fellahs, while the workingman pays taxes through the nose, the corporations pay, on the average, 15%. Those with the highest incomes, when some of us were boys in the 1960's, used to pay 91% on new income, not their overall wealth. Now, that same 1% of the population pays 31%.
Hella jive, ain't it? But in the end they're gonna' regret what they did, 'cause those on top can find themselves no longer giving the orders... |

I got back $6600. Sounds good until you figure in the $19,000 I paid in fed, state, SS, and Medicare taxes that I didn't get back

I got some money back this year, part paid for my wheels, part went into savings. I'm excited to have new wheels, but I am already wanting new mods, but the new rule is no more buying mods unless it's bonus/tax time I never knew how addictive upgrading could be. This site is bad!

Well, 2 kids and the wife puts me at 4 deductions. My wife is attending school and a full time stay at home mom since our 2 children are 2 1/2 and 1 year old, so just my income. But we get $2,000 from the child tax credit and $1800 from the EIC credit. And since she's going to school, we qualify for that extra tax credit, too. A total of $7,000 refund! Unfortunately, most of it when to pay bills but we did get a new TV out of it (47" LG LED LCD 120Hz). Next year will probably not be as high since I've heard they are cutting the child tax credit in half and lowering the EIC (earned income credit).
I e-filed since we don't itemize and got our return in a bout 8 days.

[QUOTE=cab2g;3095686]I so wish I could post some stats regarding historical income tax rates, polarization of incomes over time versus political instability, but this is a Camaro forum. But these facts are out there for anybody to look up.
Go ahead post it! This is the off-topic page. We'd all love to read it.

Was gonna do with about 1500, but then after declaring the stocks I liquidated to start my Roth IRA it bumped on down to about 700. Did it within a week of getting my paperwork, and that helped go in to the down payment on my Camaro.

The biggest business that pays no taxes is "illegal" drugs.
never gonna stop them, the money used to try is a total waste as they just send in so much, by the odds it has to get through and it does. There has never been a shortage in supply. Take that money, plus the tax money on the drugs and have a surplus in 5 years. And it will be just like guns, booze and tobacco, there will still be an element that deals in the "illegal" market side, but we still make 100fold more on taxes. Why they are "legal", its profitable and making them illegal was a waste of time and just made crime worse. [whole mobster era was built on booze, gangster era is built on crack] If we can let someone drink themselves to death and tax it, we can let them fry their brain and tax it. |
