No mo par! Srt 4 ?
SRT 4 engine.... I <3 my pt cruiser as a summer surf wagon but man is it slow. I looked around and I can get a srt 4 engine and tranny like 3g's and its about 30,000 miles on it but my car is way to slow for anything. Droppin to second gear to merge and stuff.
Question is (aside from who will help me) worth it? not worth it? I love my pt but its my summer thumpa and my "the weather is shit Im not digging the camaro(s) out of the garage" car. I also drive it from NY to FL like 1 time a year and back. Its just so comfortable. We'll I guess Im looking for justification would you do it? My PT is a 2001 with 70,000 but I put a lot of work into it, its like a apartment in the back ( I sleep in it a lot cause of roadtrips ), its got a lot of aftermarket outer accessories from ptwoody.com it is a woody (aftermarket) and got chrome bumpers and half moon rims and white walls its bangarang!

well since the PT cruiser is based off of the Neon platform (the 2nd gen cars from 99/00 to when they were discontinued when the Caliber came out) it should be the same as putting a LS series V8 in a early 4th gen as it will drop in or 'drop up' as they were put in from below at the factory. as long as you have all the computers and wiring stuff and the transmission. and your PT is a manual tran it should be okay.
plus the idea of a PT Cruiser with 220 plus hp would be sweet! the SRT 4 engine can go up to 300 plus with a stage 3 kit from the factory that installed in the car would void the warranty (don't know why tho) but since there is no warranty on the drive train you are looking at go for it!. I knew a guy who put the SRT 4 drive train in a 95-00 Stratus. the car was a base model with a 2.0 SOHC neon engine (130 hp) and a 5 speed. when done he had 225 plus and i rode in the car after he did the swap and i was like damn!

I can't see a problem with putting an SRT motor from a neon in. Or you could just take off your aftermarket stuff, buy a turbo PT cruiser (Because they made them from the factory) and go. You could probably get one hell of a sweet deal since the PT cruiser is getting cancelled and there are tons on the lot.

The turbo is not nearly as good though, Im a she btw, and I only like PT's up till 2004 cause then I can't chrome the bumpers. But thats all the motivation I needed Im doing it.

.and CamaroSpike23, nothing wrong with PT cruisers, they are no drag racers but they are nice, little cars with good utility, and good fuel economy. but if i had a choice between the PT Cruiser and a HHR or HHR SS, i would go with the HHR .

At least the PT Cruiser was original. I can't quite forgive Chevy for the HHR.
