Like others have said, go with what you like. Just make sure it is something that you will still like in years. Never, ever, ever drink before you get a tattoo. It thins your blood out and can cause you to bleed the ink out.

I have 9 tattoos, none of which can be seen when I am wearing pants and a t-shirt. That was the best advise I ever got. Keep them coverable.

The most important advise I can give is do a lot of research on on the tattoo artist prior to letting them stick the gun anywhere near you. I didn't and wound up getting scar's instead of a nice smooth outlines on my shoulders.

As for location, find a nice meaty spot for your first one. Keep away from bone and tendons. Bone just feels weird when the needle vibrates on it, tendon area (around the ankle, elbow, etc) tend to be kind of sensitive.

Make sure you post pic's afterward too.

I have a couple of tattoos. I got my first when I was about 33-34. Just a small one out in California on a business trip to my corporate office. Had wanted another for years and got it after my dad passed away 2 years ago. I have the itch again though for another on my right arm. I am always amused by the agnst that people go through when making this decision. Granted, it should not be taken lightly but if you want something that is a statement about your or your life it is entirely your business.

As far as work and business goes if a company is that stodgy or stuck up maybe you should consider why you work there instead of whether or not to get a tat.
Be sure to post a pic of your work.

LIL UPDATE

~So you guys I'm about 99.9% sure going to do this. I can't be showing any tattos at work since I work in the retail field and working with customers. I'm going to stick to my original idea and get a tattoo of my four leaf clover on my right angle. I'm finally going to set foot in the tattoo parlor tonite and plan to stop by tomorrow evening after I get my camaro fixed in the afternoon. I still have my buddies that are going to come join me so I will feel safe ha! I always wanted to get a symbol of luck on me I came across the clover. Thanks everybody for the info.

Talk about obession lmao jk... I love integrals, limits, and derivatives but not enough to get a tatt of it. I suppose the integral of e to the x power would look better cause it spells "Sex"

Good luck. My fiance has a 4 leaf clover and she regrets it every time she looks at it. She got it when she was young and well "dumb" as she would say. Just remember, when youre older that cute little 4-leaf clover will turn into an "old saggy tree" :(

Just make sure it is good and not a blotch of green. I think you are in a good place and will not regret it.

All mine are custom designed by me and have meaning. Getting something that means really nothing isn't a good idea. I still get the needly fun from time to time. I'm not equipped for longevity so I don't really worry about any of the old age stuff. I live for now because I have to.

Stacey you get what you want don't listen what others say or not it's your choice.......Thank God we still have choices to make!
Thank you for protecting my right to ink myself with american needles. It wasn't my intention to make a blanket statement regarding the USMC nor it's members. More to say that uniformity in numbers does not equal weakness or sheep-like behavior, and if someone refuses see the trees as anything but a forest, that man is in BAD HANDS.

you only live once, if you want a tattoo dont let anyone stop you. just use common sense and find someone who does good work. I used to think that tattoos were ruining your body but you know what? you only live once and when your old and crappy looking you will still be old and crappy just with a tattoo. just think long term when you get one.
btw i have about 25 tats now and at one time i was preaching how stupid it was to get one.
