The 3.06 Gear in the Challenger Auto cannot be compared to the 3.92 gear ratio in the Manual offering. The transmissions are geared differently. Putting a 3.23 gear in the SRT or RT Automatic is where most drag guys end up, or really aggressive gearing can be had by installing 3.55s in conjunction with the Automatic. Nothing offered above 3.55 for the Auto, and the 3.55 would be similar to 4.10s in a manual transmission. Just informational post since the 3.06 by itself can be somewhat misleading.

+1, rear ratios can sometimes be only a small part in overall gearing. tire height is another varianle but is usually the smallest one unless youre talking about trucks. most car tire heights falls between 26-28"

Back OT.
What road? You mean that road where someone has a hard time understanding English? For real, you just kept on saying "back-tracking DERP" everytime I said something to you about how everyone was talking about stock vehicle. It's nice to have a fan I guess.

Oh yeah, I'm the one upset lol. Wbt must have an inferiority complex to post the same post everytime someone mentions the R/T is not the best performer compared to the SS.

RT is a good match against L99 camaros.they put up a decent fight against 5.0's and Ls3 but at a decided disadvantage in speed but they ARE "more car" than the comp.
392 is a good match against fully loaded 5.0 and LS3 SS
they dont really have an answer for the gt500 yet it seems but thats ok, GM is barely even getting to that.

There are rumors of a "special" engine for the 2012 MY to compete with the GT500 and ZL1. Currently the two "front runners" in the rumor pool, which Chrysler is only too happy to have all worked up, is a blown 392 Hemi or a 3rd genAluminum block 426 Hemi (which should have around 560 HP or so and comes in at 12,000).

What kind of backs this up is that Mopar just announced a new aluminum 426 Hemi at the beginning of the year for sale as a street ready crate motor.

i just saw road and track got 13.0@109.8 with a 392, pretty much on par with an lS3 SS and 5.0 i thought they were faster than that. ive seen videos as fast as 114mph but tests seem to be averaging maybe 109-111mph. 4350lbs doesnt help. sheesh theyve gained almost 200lbs since they came out!!

i remember everyone saying the 392 would come in north of 550hp. i was expecting closer to 500hp. if theyre working on a 426 im gonna guess 540-550hp tops or a solid 70-80hp for the .6L gain. TOPS.

wouldnt it be easier to use the v10?

anyways i expect a car like that at $60,000 for sheez.

I am guessing it was a manual.... The manuals have been hitting 12.9-13.0, the 12-12.6 is coming from the automatics.

but the trap speeds are whats troubling. I thought theyd be trapping 112-114mph but actually it looks like theyre averaging only about 110mph accross the board.

not slow, but for the segment is average. Ive also seen a few 109's as well.

they seem to be averaging maybe 420rwhp/tq. if you combine that with 4350lbs +200lbs driver on my favorite calculator they should average 111mph which seems in line with what we're seeing i guess.

http://www.competitiondiesel.com/Phil/bg/

i guess the 114mph is not gonna be that common or was an anamoly and should expect 109-111mph with some 112's
