I have a mockingbird outside my window, too, but I enjoy it. He (or she) does a pretty good impersonation of a car alarm. When my mom visits, she says it's my pet.

I also hear what I think are frogs during the hot, humid summer months. They don't wake me up, but they make it difficult to fall asleep.

Too funny! Our Mocking Bird is very loud & obnoxious in the morning, but funny other times. My husband thinks of him as his "pet". Mike calls the bird "Buddy". Buddy follows Mike around when he mows eating bugs. Buddy gets mad & "fusses" at Mike following him around when it has been too long since he mowed. Buddy thinks he owns the yard & runs off other birds especially from the bird bath.

My window is about 150 feet away from a busy road. I only remember waking up from Hyabusa's and GSXR's zooming past at 100+ MPH. I seem to remember waking up from open exhaust cars racing by too.
When I was deployed and sleeping in a tent, I initially woke up from F-16's taking off at night but I got used to it after a while.

Living near a large Army base, Ive gotten used to most aircraft sounds, but when they do night fire at the tank ranges that still wakes me up. You cant hear it, its just a low thud and the house gently rattles. Just enough to rouse me, so annoying.

These days tho, its usually people blowing their airhorn at 3am trying to back into a parking spot at the truck stop. Also, reefer trailers starting up at all hours of the night is pretty annoying too.

I need to get me one of them white noise makers some day :/
