I'm pretty sure they make pull up bars you can use in door ways, and walmart sells the arm bands that are all in one, different colors for more or less resistants on the same band for like 15 or 20 bucks.

OK so here's the weird part...

I weighed 197.8 this morning... almost 2 pounds in a day and I ate my normal intake yesterday...
We've gone through this a lot here when people have these results, don't worry about it, it's most likely fluctuations in water weight. Scale readings can vary from day to day with no actual weight change. Usually it is recomended to check weight every week or even two weeks, this gives a more accurate result. It is also recomended to monitor body fat more than weight for the same reason, if you gained 5 lbs of muscle and lost 2lbs of fat I don't think you'de complain much would you? If you want just for shits and giggles weigh yourself tonight right before you go to bed and then first thing when you wake up, you will most likely see a difference of several pounds, I don't think you lost several pounds while sleeping, you didn't poop it out so what's up? THE SCALES LIE. Stay steady with what your doing, record your weight every week or two and go by that comparison, that will reflect weight loss. Also if you want get an inexpensive body fat caliper, they're simple to use and give a much better picture when used with the scale. Also rely on how your clothes fit and what you see in the mirror, it works.

Yep, you are absolutely right... The place I was working out had a Bod pod that you sat in and it gave you an accurate comparison between lean muscle and body fat.

So you'd now how much fat vs muscle was being lost or gained throughout the program...

I hear ya. just got a little "scale" focused.

Here you go. I have used this program and alternate it with a 3-day split after the 12 weeks and found it to be excellent. If you decide to use it follow it as closely as possible and run it's course, I think you will like the results.

I know egg noodles are not the best, but that was the best option available to me. Breakfast was grapes, cantaloupe, and half cup or so of Smart Start cereal w/ skim milk...and gotta have my coffee!! We will see what options are available for dinner...two and a half more days till I have some freedom to go to the store to get what I need to sustain proper eating. P90X Yoga on the docket for the workout today!

Add some oats and brown rice to your diet. Taper your carbs off to a salad by that evening.

I think she's in a position where she can't cook right now, if carbs have been reduced and you must eat salads you could throw some kidney, garbanzo or black beans on your salads, this will increase protein and carbs. Oatmeal and brown rice in my opinion are two of the best options if you can cook. Also you can add raw oatmeal to protein shakes and make them more of a meal replacement.

Reduced my meds = Awesomeness!

I've been in a holding pattern this week. Only doing light cardio.
After losing 11 pounds in 12 days, I was able to reduce the daily dose of one of my anti-vertigo medications in half. Which is freaking AWESOME!

But my neurologist and family M.D. asked that I put P90X on hold for a week and let my brain adjust to the different chemical balance... and see if it holds.
And so far it has!
So on Sunday I'll be starting up P90X again! (Round 1.5 ) What I found encouraging is that the neurologists at the Vertigo Clinic here in Calgary have asked for a P90X poster to put up in their waiting room.

One of the gals on another thread was asking questions about P90X and I told her she needed to come to this thread to learn everything she ever needed to know about weight loss and fitness! I figured others might find the answers to her questions beneficial so I am reposting here:

1. Are all of the workouts about and hour long? Most are 45 min to an hour...the yoga is over an hour long, ab ripper x is 20 min but usually follows one of the 45 min workouts
2. Do you do these workouts every day? 6 days a week with the 7th day being either full rest, or Stretch X(which is a really awesome routine!)
3. Do you have to follow their nutrition guide or can you just watch what you eat? (the nutrition guide is just that, a guide...your nutrition needs will vary based upon your goals, your height, weight, and gender. The P90X diet focuses a lot on protein intake which is for muscle building...please read the posts in this forum especially the ones by hrpii and CPD -- they have provided a ton of invaluable information on nutrition)
4. About how much actual weight did you lose? (P90X is more of a muscle building program than a weight loss program...my goal was not to lose weight, but to gain muscle so weight loss was minimal)

Thanks!
I would also like to add that P90X is not for the faint of heart...lots of people start it numerous times and never complete it (myself included). It takes a lot of hard work and dedication to stick with it. Although you will lose fat and gain muscle, P90X is more of a strength training program and less of a weight loss program. If your goal is weight loss, P90X may not be the right program for you. All that being said, IF you do P90X AND stick with it you WILL see results!!!

I used the scale when I first got here...have others who have used it tell me it is accurate. Yes, I have probably reduced my carbs too much simply because if it isn't whole wheat or brown rice I don't eat it...yesterday I resolved to eat some "white" carbs just to get carbs in me.

Yes, they sell pull up bars that go in your door way...they have them at Target...that is where I bought mine. It can also be used for situps and to do pushups.

Right, I am at the mercy of the chow hall atm. Will be getting a fridge for my room and hopefully a hot plate or something so I can actually prepare my own food.

Found this quote and just had to share it with you guys!

I like weights. You know where you stand with them. Well, sometimes
you're lying under them, trying not to let them crush you, but you see,
you KNOW they'd crush you if they could. There's honesty.

Had measurements taken last night by my trainer. GONE: 1/2 inch in my neck, 3 inches in my waist, 1 in my thigh and 1/2 in my calf! Screw the scale, I'm making freakin' progress! And that was with about 50% effort! I'm more determined than ever now to give it 100% to see what this old body can do! GOOOO ME!

Cool. good job Pam. I'm glad to see your making very good progress, some impressive numbers there. If you step it up a notch as you are suggesting you will be amazed at what your "old body can do".
