I had an online class in highschool (geology) and it wasn't too bad. I could usually do 3 days worth of work in a single period. Usually, I'd only do work on monday and friday then use tuesday-thursday as a spare.

I didn't have any true online classes in university, but there were a couple that made extensive use of the internet. One of them, the prof posted up what was essentially a podcast for all but 5 classes (it was a BS class, scheduled for friday nights 7-10 pm ... attendance would have been near 0 anyway). The other, the prof did a simucast online and we had to make 3 weekly postings about either the content of the textbook or something covered in lecture. But neither one was terribly important, the first was 'Collaborative Leadership' and the second was 'Impact of Science and Technology'

Why would you even be giving a solvable equation as an answer?

Seriously though, online quizzes can be very annoying, even the multiple choice questions. I can't tell you how many times I'd get a message along the lines of:

Incorrect
You answered 'c'
The correct answer is 'c'

My son does both, as some courses are not offered at his campus, but he can do them online. He claims the online classes require more attention to detail and self discipline. That is why he hates having to take them.

That's exactly how it appeared to me.

I haven't had that happen to me yet, but be sure... If I don't get on C5 for a few days then you know it happened and I threw my computer out the window.

It was because you didn't have to, not till that standard test they came up with in the late 90s, did anyone have to do any real work.

I know Im a child of that gen, I learned early that I didn't have to do anything I didn't want and they still moved you forward. But I was just a kid, I didn't know any better, but the teachers n schools sure did.

I despise online classes. Had to take Animal Sciences 260 (aka Data Analysis) online here at Ohio State and it was horrible. Our professor did nothing more than post videos of the Powerpoint presentations and record himself reading the slides. My friends and I ended up making parties out of them because watching them alone was sheer torture.

I prefer class room over online classes! With the one and only online class i took i kept losing track and forgetting when things were due... thank god i had my best friend in class with me. He kept me up to date and i ended up with a A at the end of the semester. So it wasn't that bad.

It depends on what the course is, how its setup, and what you're like as a student. If it is something you're interested in and the material doesn't require much interaction with the prof, it will probably be a lot easier. Also, if you feel you learn more from notes and the textbook than from the teacher, it might be a good choice.

when I took online classes I loved them. no having to get up and drive to the college and sit in class. they were really easy, too.
