A tick over 13.0 sec. and you're through the quarter-mile. It's a rush, of course, but not overly dramatic. Try the same thing with this pair's predecessors of 1970 or so and you'll find yourself in a bit of a wrestling match. Ain't progress wonderful? Maybe yes, and maybe sometimes it's fun to wrestle."

could care less its really not that impressive for the money it costs. I can do a few mods for less on my SS maro when it gets here and eat that horse alive. Looks to much like a reg stang and that interior is hard and plasticy and that design although refreshed is stale and old

I get it and welcome it. Make sure your running in the mid-to-low 10's before you do.

A link? How about a scale? My car, with no weight reduction of any form, every option but the Shaker 1000 stereo (inc. navigation), a full tank of fuel and a larger, heavier KB supercharger weighs in at 3850lbs. With the upgraded stereo, I could see them reaching 3900lbs, but that at the high end. In either case, it weighs LESS than an auto or a manual SS. At least according to Chevrolet http://www.chevrolet.com/camaro/pdf/...ifications.pdf

So, you could care less? That must mean there is something that impresses you about the car, since you're holding back.

From the sounds of it it doesn't have to be as good, only marginally worse and the GT500 still spanks the Maro SS around a track stock vs stock. However you are paying $10,000 more in order to be able to do that. I do like the looks of the GT500 over the 370Z anyday..

Exactly. 150 shot on the SS would make a drag race with a GT500 interesting.
Same goes with the 'Stang though.

I like this facelift a hell of a lot more that the GT's. She's pretty, lets hope the boys at SVT can get that suspension up to par!

Yes its gorgeous, but c'mon guys. It'll be exactly like the GT in terms of handling. Even on the inside too. look at the seats, my wife's RAV4 has more bolstered seats than that.

BTW does anyone know why it isn't called the GT540?

Interesting... so... for this to work you'd have to ignore what 'Ford' gives as the lb's for the mustang, claiming they want to hurt their product by listing it at over 3900lbs... but then assume Chevy has more accurate scales for their cars?

Sorry,

Sorry,
No, what you need to understand is how the industry measures and records curb weight. Curb weight is the weight of a fully optioned vehicle with a full tank of fuel. As I said earlier, I have no doubts there are GT500's out there that weigh 3900+ pounds. Do the math. Let's say a GT500 with he same options as mine, in stock form, weighs 3840 lbs. Add the 80 or so pounds to that for the Shaker 1000 stereo and, viola, you get a GT500 that weighs 3920. If I recall, that is the official curb weight reported by Ford and verified by other non-Ford organizations.

I'm just saying that not all GT500 issues are of equal weight. What's funny is that you see people, usually the ones who want to bash the car in some way, posting up weights on the GT500 like "4000lbs" or "4100lbs", which is just disingenuous and unfactual.
