if it isnt faster in a straight line, then something is wrong (moreso than normal with mustangs)

I can almost guarantee it will be faster in a straight line. We'll see what SVT does with the suspension, but I doubt it'll be as good as the IRS in the SS.

I swore to myself I wasn't going to entertain this thread anymore, but just to prove a point that was brought up earlier. This is the problem with the GT500
http://cgi.ebay.com/ebaymotors/Ford-...1%7C240%3A1308

So I ask you GT500 Stang or ZR1 Corvette

I agree 100%. I had fun mopping the floor with the few SRT Challengers that visited the track this past fall and look forward to doing the same with a few Camaro's this spring/summer. I'm sure there will be more than a few that will return the favor.
lol pipedream? that's what the stang guys were saying about the gt500 b4 it came out. 1 win over a stang and those 7 or so years will feel like a milisecond.

Awesome, I like some of the GM products too and have even bought them from time to time in the past. I prefer JIF peanut butter to Skippy, you may not. That's why they both exist on store shelves. Some, myself included, would argue that GM has too many nameplates/offerings, often in competiton with itself for the same car buyer.
ford is part of it....they asked them to have some billions ready to role when things get ugly....so wrong.

gt500 or zr1? hope that was a joke. almost 3x as much for a zr1 (42/43 for base gt500, 109k for base zr1)

the gt500KR is more (around 80k, notice the one in the auction has 0 bids) and the zr1 is 109k minimum. Kerbeck is selling their's for 140 or 150k, and this is the #1 vette dealership in the country.

its like saying v6 mustang or challenger srt8.

You should read the thread and check the link before commenting.

The point was the GT500 is listed on ebay for over 90K, that is almost ZR1 money. How you can compare that between a SRT and a V6 Stang is mind boggling to say the least

this thread is stupid, almost as stupid as the GT500. still not sure why anyone would want one.

Please help me out here, 4000lb car, cant turn, horribly cheap, outdated suspension.

its overpriced, overweight, and really for people who buy into the name more than actual performance. The camaro should be a much more athletic car, being lighter and more track capable. Dont be suprised to see Camaro's wippin up on Mustangs across the board.

Ps. for 43k, this wont have a chance against a Camaro.

A tick over 13.0 sec. and you're through the quarter-mile. It's a rush, of course, but not overly dramatic. Try the same thing with this pair's predecessors of 1970 or so and you'll find yourself in a bit of a wrestling match. Ain't progress wonderful? Maybe yes, and maybe sometimes it's fun to wrestle."

It appears I'm getting into this discussion very late, but I'll make a few observations on the 2010 GT500;

*These are just my opinions*

1. The "louver" in the hood: looks like the opening on my paper shredder.

2. Could they add more stripes?! Shifter-ball? Seats?

3. I actually like the wheels.

For my tastes, the 2010 GT500 is too "boy-racer".

because the gt500 listed on ebay is a gt500KR, not a gt500. and again, listed for over 90k, and with no bids, while zr1s are flying off lots for 150k.

thats about a 60k price difference which is nowhere near close. if you want to get picky, a gt500kr msrp's for 79995, while a zr1 msrp's for 109k. thats a 29k price difference, which is still not close, thats a loaded v6 camaro.

the v6 stang to srt8 comparison was in price, not performance (with the v6 being less than half the cost, just like a gt500 being less than half the cost of a zr1)
