Alois Ruf, Koenig, Calloway, Lingenfelter, the list goes on. The top tier gets as much big name attention as they can handle- there are just fewer cars on the market so it can only support a few big modifiers.

Mustang has lots of modifiers because there are at least 1 gajillion Mustangs on the road. The number of big name Camaro modifiers will reflect how many Camaros are on the road.

Come on now, If there is a market for someone to upgrade the Camaro (which I am sure there will be) there will be plenty of specialty companies out there to do it. What those guys that modify the corvettes and mustangs are doing now are no different from what Harrel, Yenko, and others did back in the good old 60's with Camaro's Chevelles, etc...
Underperforming has nothing to do with it. as long as people want more power there will be people out there to build cars that provide it no matter who makes the car and how much it comes from the factory with.

For the people getting angry at members slamming the off-brands..
I think anyone coming on to a dedicated Camaro site and trying to preach Mustang has got to expect some major abuse.
This site isn't called "musclecar-5" or "sportscar-5" its called CAMARO-5.
So don't expect people on here to really give a rats a$$ about a Ford or Chrysler.
A beating should be expected.
The original statement or question remains true no matter what the arguement by people owning Mustangs or Challengers.
The stock Camaro's will kick all their butts, and they all know it.. which is really all that matters.

I don't have a problem with Ford or the Mustang. I've just had too many problems with their cars to give them any more of my money. Same reason I go with Sony and Mac and refuse to buy Microsofts products.

I'm sure plenty of their vehicles run just fine, but mine haven't. Maybe I've just had less luck than most...either way, I stay away from Ford and the Mustang. Not to mention the Camaro is easily the better buy. I'll be paying less for my Camaro and it'll have some 40 horses plus a much nicer interior (leather) than my brother did for his Mustang. I stilll laugh at him.

We're not angry that you're "slamming" Mustangs and Challys, it's just you're comparing figures of production cars with a car that isn't even being made yet. I honestly can't wait for the day that the big auto reviewers get their hands on an SS and can legitimitely compare the cars and get some hard numbers. And to say that we deserve and should expect "abuse" from you Camaro guys is a bit disconcerting, considering this forum is supposed to embrace all forms of American Muscle, with emphasis on the Camaro. Hmm, that tells me something.

Sorry, but the camaros made now are fully production ready. You can't use the "isn't made yet" just because only a few dozen exist. They ARE real, and pretending they are not over and over just smacks of desperation.

Please stick to comparisons with facts, not wishful thinking or delusions.

The 2010 Mustang is going to perform Very similar to the 2008 Bullit, which means 0-60 in 5.1-2 and hit the quarter mile in 13.7 sec at about 103 mph. The Pontiac G8 GXP which is the sedan that is related to the camaro already out performs it. The Camaro is on an upgraded chasis compared to the G8, it weighs lighter and has more hp, Thus compared to the Mustang The Camaro SS will easily beat it.

People will naturally rag on the competition to make themselves feel better. Personally I think the Mustang is a fine car with a rich heritage. I'm getting a Camaro but I'm not going to sit here and insult the Mustang all day like an immature kid.

So, I'm curious. Has anyone actually changed their minds here?
Cuz all this arguing for nothing seems.....
Yeah, this topic is pretty much worthless. Mustang fans wanting a 5.0 engine is old news...hopefully they get it in the future so Chevy will upgrade their car as well. Competition brings improvement; I'm thankful for cars like the Mustang and Challenger.

Lol you can't say anything about "facts" when the Camaro hasn't even been properly put through its paces yet. Looks like you're the one with the wishful thinking and delusions buddy.
Here are some facts.
The pontiac G8 GXP 415hp/415tq
0-60 4.5sec
1/4 13.0 flat at 109-110mph
.90gs in the corners
60-0 111-117ft.
4000lbs
(Zeta I)

Camaro is Zeta II (improved)
More Horsepower-Fact
Less Weight-Fact
More tire outback=more grip-Fact.
Same front brakes as the G8 GXP but larger brakes outback with 4 piston 14.4" Brembos-Fact

If you think the Camaro SS is going to perfom less than the Pontiac G8 GXP (which is the sedan it is related to), then you are lying to yourself-Fact.

Stock Camaro SS beats a Stock Mustang GT-Fact (how can it not since the G8 GXP already beats the mustang GT)

SS is less aerodynamic due to retro-styling - Fact
SS has worse gear ratio than GXP - Fact

I'd be happy with a 4.5.

LOL!! True BUUUUUUUT The G8 GXP had 245 W tires, The Camaro SS has 275 Z rated Perelli Pzeros. More grip of the line grip + Less weight + More horspower= Faster times-FACT
Aslo aerodynamics really starts becoming a biiiiiig factor the further you go into tripple digit speeds.
