We have lingenfelter, and slp. and besides even if there wasn't one for us. those extra couple thousand bucks you'll spend on getting a car like roush ans shelby, we'll just drop in a ls7 and it'll gut your roush, shelby, and saleen like a slippery fish, and lets not get started on the Zr1 corvette, you think the camaro ss is all we got? you got another thing coming. we don't need famous names on our cars but if they do unite the better. the 1998 ss can smoke the mustang, its almost 11 years old Ford can bearly upgrade there old ass 4.6 to a 5.0 actually they haven't yet. new mustang is coming out with SUPPOSABLY 315hp thats a good laugh the camaro ss will be 13 years old and still smoke it. Before you get roush, shelby and all them involved i suggest ford fires rubbermaid for the mustang interior material.

As for the comparisons, it depends on which mustang you're talking about. Something else to be considered is that when you think about it, times are going to be similar across the board as they were last generation. Although power has gone up in all cars, so has the weight. Yes, a 4th gen Camaro SS will probably smoke a 2010 Mustang GT (which is an unfair comparison since the SS was the top dog and the GT wasn't), but it will probably also give the 2010 SS a run for its money as well. Also, I could just as easily make the point that a 2003 SVT Cobra is probably quicker than the upcoming SS (SVT has slightly less hp and torque, but is 300-lbs. lighter). So really bench racing here is useless, since they're all about the same speed when compared across the board. As for the interior, the 2010 Mustang has a very elegant look to it; the 2010 Camaro has a more retro look, and both are pretty awesome if you ask me. And no offense, but we all know the 4th gen Camaro/Firebird had one of the most ugly-assed plastic interiors ever seen by mankind, so by having one you kinda forfeit the right to complain about Ford's plastic. |

My interior is way better than the current ford mustang, (material) feel both of them.
You got to be kidding me, the current mustang interior is pathetic its hard and its 100% plastic. Camaro's is real leather and cushioned. the 1999-2004 mustang had good interior.

I like Ford, I almost bought a mustang once, but the driving position was cramped, kept hitting the wheel with my knee. My personal ride is a 95 F250 x-cab w/460, it has never left me stranded.
Ford took the wrong route with the mustang this time, maybe if they had a 'big butt delete' option on the redesign. |

I for one think it is bad for someone to come to another car's forum just to rag on that car and praise their car. I sure wouldn't think of going to the Mustang forum to rub their noses into the power Differences... That would just be mean. I liked the older Mustangs (Pre 1970) and when they came out with this current design I thought it looked great, but the changes they made to the 2010 Mustang to me made it look worse not better. To those trying to compare the V6 Camaro to the Mustang GT... They are not competitors, the V6 Camaro and V6 Mustang are. The ones talking about the GT Mustang is not the top dog Mustang but the SS Camaro is the Top Dog Camaro, well if you consider the lower horsepower Camaro SS with the Automatic it could be the competitor to the GT with the Higher HP SS manual as the Top Dog Camaro.. but again Who knows what the future will hold... there may be even a Higher performance version later of BOTH cars. so hold on to your hats.

So, I'm curious. Has anyone actually changed their minds here?
Cuz all this arguing for nothing seems..... Ah nevermind.

All i can say is the HP doesn't matter, looks of it doesn't matter, how cheaply it's built doesn't matter Ford guys will still buy the mustang. Which IMO is a very ugly car for this current gen and the 2010 model. The current stang never grew on me, and neither is the 2010, but I'm sure mustang fanboys will still buy it. No matter how much it sucks. I'm sorry if this offends anyone but ford fans are usually hard up, at least in my area. They wouldn't be caught dead in the wrong vehicle. That being said I return to my first sentence. It just has to say mustang on it and Ford fans will buy.

Also, exactly what is the "wrong" vehicle to be caught in? I assume you mean these die-hard Ford guys you speak of would not be caught in anything but a car built by that manufacturer. If so, you have those in every crowd as evidenced by posts by some people on this very board. |

Certainly, Hard up stood for the some of the people in my area. What I meant was that they love ford so darn much that they refuse to even look at another brand. Me on the other hand i like most brands. I go to an auto show, and I sit in dang near every vehicle there. It takes me forever to get through one.
And yes your assumptions are right in that last sentence, I did mean that, and I do agree with you that there are people like that in all brands. Which is why I don't believe that the mustang is gonna lose much sales because most are not happy about 315 HP or how the car looks. Which is what this thread is essentially about. |

we're losing our minds... 300 HP is now not enough? hot d--m. Ford will step it up to 400 with the new mod engine but d--m these cars are becoming too f--king fast! i'm fine with 300-400 but anything more i think that's too f--king fast for a car i drive around town

I agree with your last statement. Like the Camaro, the Mustang has a huge cult following, so they are going to sell. You only need to look at the '70s and the Mustang II to know that regardless of what shape/form the Mustang takes, they will still sell them. |
