1) The engine compartment is beautiful, the cross member over the engine adds a nice finishing touch.
2) The rear end styling is horrible, flat out ugly.
3) Nothing new here, but the front end styling is second to none; it gives the Mustang that aggressive classic muscle car look.
4) The interior looks and feels cheap; I'm not sure they could have found a lower grade of leather. For as much grief as the Camaro gets with regard to it's interior, it's far better than the Mustang's.
5) The shifter (M6) is loose and sloppy, far worse than the Camaro's stock shifter.
6) I thought the wheels on the stock SS Camaro were narrow, the wheels on the Mustang look like something that belongs on a family sedan.
7) The sound of the exhaust is very nice.
8) The handling seemed OK, but not even close to the Camaro SS, of course I'm used to my Camaro with coilovers and wide tires all the way around.
9) The acceleration felt identical to the stock Camaro SS, I honestly could not tell a difference. But the engine revved more quickly and was more responsive.
10) They have a UAW sticker on the window...WTF? That alone would turn me away. Even though Barry Obama and the UAW own GM they don't (not yet at least) put their logo on their cars.
Once you mentioned the interior of the SS is far better than the Mustang Premium GT is, I stopped reading.

But...just for a fact check....the ls1 car was stock....he owned both cars and had just bought the 11 GT. I highly doubt he would have rigged the situation in favor of his old car lol. He claimed the traction control was still on, that he was inexperienced with it and that the car was new and not broken in fully as the reason for the loss (which are all valid reasons IMO)....I remember it clearly.

Obviously a stock ls1 car will not beat an 11 GT....but it just goes to show anything can happen on the street and these vids with so many types of variables etc dont mean much...

check your fact checks, the owner finally admitted the ls1 was not stock. not highly modified or anything, but NOT stock.

True dat, thing is few buy GT500's to keep them stock. Many dealer upgraded pre '11 models outhandle and outpower the stock 2011, while retaining factory warranty. Put the SVT adjustable suspension and TVS blower on via the dealer, and that C6 vette is a distant memory.

i agree but again, stock ss vs stock 5.0... once you go to stock ss vs stock 11 gt500 then that a whole other issue. and i dont think there are close enough to compare unless you throw boost at the ss. then you get into the whole mod vs stock car thing again.

How am I supposed to know...I didn't follow up on it....I didnt lose sleep over it like you must have. Why would he lie about it in the first place....sounds stupid in every way.

You got a link to this super fact checker?

Let me guess the car had a lid and a cat back? LOL. Many would still call that stock for the most part. Those mods should not be nearly enough...

Mustangs 15 yeasrs ago, now those were fun to drive (and scary)!
I don't see why the Camaro's IRS wouldn't stand up. Look around. The ZR1 has 638 Hp. The Viper has 600 . the Ferrari 599 has 600. Aston Martin DBS has 510hp.
Now if we're talking beyond 600hp, that's in a completely different realm. I do recall someone built a 1000hp Camaro a while back. Not sure what they did to the rear suspension.

I didn't say the Camaro IRS wouldn't stand up. I'm just saying the IRS would not be a factor for me buying a car, not with what Ford has done with the SRA. That said, I love the video above. As I've always said, the GT500 downside is that it handles like a pig. I know, they fixed it in 2011 supposedly, but I doubt it can compete with the Vette.

leave your traction control on in your camaro and race anyone. do a 1-2 powershift where it really spins and kicks sideways and see what your PCM's response is. it will not ignore the spinning. it will kill the throttle, apply the brakes and then restart the acceleration. end of story. ford traction control is no different.

if you do a hard shift in a 2011gt and it doesnt spin too much, it will keep going, but if it kicks out of line at all, it kills the run.
