Toyota Says Steering Not a Safety Feature

It is not my mission in life to bring down Toyota.

That being said, I have more bad news about Toyota. Apparently, the Corolla's steering issues are not a safety concern in the eyes of Toyota's imbecile executives. They apparently don't see how steering failures and the 11 deaths they caused in 437 instances have any relation. One vehicle even turned and veered off a road. Toyota has issued a service bulletin, not unlike the one for our beloved Camaros regarding scratched radio faces. This is not a recall.

Now Toyotas both accelerate unexpectedly and turn unexpectedly.

Leftlane reported. Discuss.

Don't forget the ones that can stall unexpectedly.

How can we forget? In that case, Toyotas, accelerate, stall, and turn without reason. Toyota has made it unsafe, not just for Toyota drivers, but for everyone else, too.

The recent report that driver error was the reason for SUA has also been found to have pretty much no source whatsoever. NHTSA is still conducting tests and said they aren't even close to coming to a conclusion. In fact, people are speculating that Toyota themselves sent that story to the media.

i re-looked up the motortrend article. the title says "NHTSA Finds Driver Error in Toyota Sudden Acceleration Cases, Not Defect" then in the actual article the source is an anonymous tipper for the wall street journal..........

This was released by Autoblog this morning.

WSJ got a tip from a Toyota fanboy? Maybe.

"According to an unnamed NHTSA spokeswomen speaking with Just-Auto, "The story was planted by Toyota. Toyota is the source – yes we know that for definite [sic]. It is [the] Toyota PR machine. We knew they were going to put it out.""

Doesn't sound very credible to me. I tend to hold the WSJ in high regard for verifying sources. I'd be willing to bet that this ends up being the official report.

Didn't Cobalts have a similar issue with steering failure earlier in the year?

I don't view my job as lifting Toyota up. But I want them to lose because American products are better, not because we amplify and intensify allegations that have not yet been proven.
