I think it's good he showed up in that car. For one, I think it shows how serious GM is in making a super-fuel-efficient car and how close they are getting to have one read
.

They had to drive their cars; it was a PR stunt. Time is money, and their time would have been better spent flying commercial than a very long car ride.

Its also great to see them turn the tables on the politicians.

Now they can say, "As CEO here are the technologies I bring to the economical table. What have to brought?"

Yeah, but it's just like in football, if the team does well, it's because of the team, if they tank it's all the fault of the coach.

It doesn't matter what he's done in the past, how well he's improved the overall reputation of the company or even that the sales slump was caused by a credit crunch far beyond his ability to control. The company is in trouble so obviously it's the fault of the CEO.

I say replace Wagoner with Lee Iacocca. Or Bill Gates. Or better yet, both as Co-CEOs. Lee knows how to turn a company around and Gates knows how to innovate and crush the competition.

Obviously the CEO is not at fault here, its the stupid union that has GM by the "juevos" and killing them in the bank. What up with the people that aren't working at GM because they closed down a manufacturing building and are STILL getting paid 95% of their SALARY!!

Damn money sucking UNION! Tell me, Do you think Toyota and Honda have unions!? They are laughing all the way to the bank.

The only way for GM to get out of this is to declare bankruptcy and that will realease GM from the contracts signed over 30 years ago.

Also did you hear that the Union is willing to suspend their payments for a while so GM can get out of the hole! Non-sense, they're a leech hoping that GM will survive to continue paying the Non-working union workers.

This issue is too complicated to really get into either way someone is screwed whether its the CEO or the consumers.

... good luck GM, I will continue to buy GM vehicles so long as the quality stays as is (CTS, Corvette, Camaro)

Lets not forget that Bob Lutz is the Vice Chairman of Global Product Development. He is mostly credited with bringing quality back to GM.

I've read/heard he arrived in a Volt, but video I've seen of him arriving in the 'Volt' was actually a Cruze.

I thought that the vehicle he arrived in was a mule of a Volt. Who knows we can speculate all day on this.

Thats how a CEO makes their money, they don't care about 1$ salaries, as a matter of fact most CEOs make that salary.

This is nothing new, alothough he should have had this salary from the beginning.

As an example, Bill Gates has had a 1$ salary for years.

WOW did not know that , no wonder he drives a VW bettle

Forget Bill Gates. He's old news. We need GM to have the "cool" thing going on. Steve Jobs ftw. :-P

Which is great, because the better they make the company, the more their income (stocks) go up. He should just tell the gvmt that he is being paid completely in stocks, as motivation to not fail.
