This will be my last post on the subject. I laid it out for everyone to see. Choose what you may with it.
you wanted something "constructive" well there you have it. Notice the trap speeds. Not saying you dont gain MPH's, just not as much as youre wishing it does.

In a perfect world, if both cars could possibly have "perfect" gearing per unit weight, the mustang will be faster. It's simple physics.
thats what i've been trying to tell him.I really wonder what his reply would be. Its his opinion vs. my evidence.

I didn't come close to gaining 5mph when I went from 3.08 gear to 4.10 in my old fox body.
I also didnt gain any trap speed, just ET when going from 3.27 to 3.73 in my 4th gen Camaro.

Yes my gains were in the ET mostly. I think I picked up 1 mph on the best runs with the 4.10 being the only new mod at the time.

Being able to shift back into the power band is far more important than the car making peak power at 6.5k-6.6k rpm.

shifting at 7200-7500 is what my car needs bad. i'd take that one tuning mod if i could get it. im waiting for more tuning results before i buy. as these cars get the rev limit raised ET's are gonna drop sharply.

I drove an '11 5.0 today. Pretty impressive for only 5 liters. Down low very unimpressive, but in about the top 3rd of the RPM range it really hits hard.

I still prefer the way the LS3 builds power early. Much more predictable power. Driving the Mustang around, my first impression was this thing is a dog... that's all there is... then once when really opening it up and keeping my foot all the way in it, holy smokes this thing rips hard on the top end. So you really have to push it hard to really feel the ponies. As opposed to an LS motor that just feels strong all the time. Really don't need to floor it and hold it floored to feel the tq.

I predict many 5.0s to be into the curbs or ditches during test drives if someone turns the traction control off. They get squirly quick once the power builds.

i can believe this. its a high winding small displacement motor. the LS3 has a 74ci advantage, and that advantage is that nice, flat torque curve that feels so good.

but me personally, ive always like that top end charge...i find it easier to get the car moving aggresively without lighting up the tires.

To be fair, they do call out on their own kind, unlike most people here.

there is going to be more 5.0's in the ditch or tree than you might think. its a high revving racelike motor. the average driver is not prepared for the power/gearing combo. turn traction and stability off= wrecks.

i don't think thats necessarily true........a motor that builds power more progressively would seem to be much more predictable than an LS motor where you stomp on it midcorner and it really socks it to you. The mustang is live rear axle (albeit a fantastic one) and has a ridiculously low first gear and I think those would make it more dangerous to any high schooler lucky to get his hands on one, than the actual powerband and torque curve of the engine.

personally..........ive kind of had enough of an engine that doesn't make any serious power below 4k but rips at the track........im ready for a big thundering 6.2L pushrod that'll really scoot under moderate throttle, low rpm situations that are present in daily driving.
