Buy some 4.30's for your car and prove me wrong when they're released. I think you'd probably be better off with some 3.9X's, but I guess you'll just have to buy some and see. If you cut a 12.3 otherwise stock, send me a pm. Good luck on your short time.

Question: does anyone make a 4.10/4.30 ring and pinion for this new IRS in the Camaro? and if so, can it handle the extra torque multiplication without breaking?

also, i have to agree that the camaro will be able to use the extra gearing to its advantage because its a heavy car...heavier cars need the torque multiplication to get their fat asses moving (one reason our S197's respond better to lower gears than the previous generation)

i think both parties have valid points in the previous posts. there are just a lot of variables...ive seen ppl pick up .5 with gears, but usually if you dont get a good tire the result is just wheelspin.

I think the Camaro would benefit insanely well from some 4.10's. Its got 3 things working against it.......a long gearbox (you can hit the speed limiter in 4th, 5th and 6th) tall wheels/tires, and 3.45's. come on, the thing can nearly hit 55 in 1st gear. cars with a numerically higher ratio are much easier to launch (think: starting off in 1st vs. 2nd gear on the street, which requires more clutch slippage?)

i think that with JUST 4.10's, the camaro could run VERY low 12's, maybe 12.2's. i think that the trap speed would be much higher. i think with 4.10's an SS could run a time that looks something like..........12.2x @ 115.xx

I believe it's about 6500 for the ls3. Peak power is about 500-1000 rpm's before redline and torque starts dropping around 5k. Power drops a little after torque starts dropping. That's why I think you'd be better off with some 3.90's than something as short as a 4.30. You wanna take advantage of that solid mid-range torque. That's just from memory and opinion though, so don't take it as fact.

Never noticed what the shift point in S of L99 is... Tap shift around 5500-5800, because if you hit 6000 in the A6 the whole fuel just cuts out.

wow...if that is indeed the case (as you stated youre not 100% sure), then thats pretty damn high...i only shift @ 6k in my 3V.

sounds like a 4.10 would probably be the best all around gear for one of these cars imo

you gotta shift higher than that man lol

what tune do you have? shifting at only 6k is gonna kill your e/t and trap, especially when the motor falls flat when you put it into 3rd at only 6k
