I'd be willing to bet that most of you would get walked by an s2000 on most road courses your first time out. Who gives a shit? Everyone's just arguing to argue now. The '11 GT will likely pull an SS on a road course. There's logic to support this, but not the other way around. There's no way to know if it will be a killing or not and frankly for 99% of camaro and mustang owners, it simply won't matter at all.

Oh yeah? well an evo will own an 11 GT, the s2000, and a hayabusa.... in a rally race... sorry I'm a little tired and couldn't help myself. Anywho even if the mustang somehow manages to beat the camaro it is still:

1) Not as cool looking
2) Most likely not as responsive to a cam/heads combo (comparing LS vs stang motors)
3) Still a girl's car (except the Shelby/Terminators)

Just my thoughts, but what the heck do I know?

Umm, I am a Muscle car fan, and I like them all.

Also, a Z28 is in my future

Good gas mileage in the Mustang GT 5.0 is a big selling point for Ford. In my experience, if you want something, you usually have to compromise something else. Is it possible that they could not meet their target MPG and HP without some less than optimum tuning in the auto transmission (specifically at lower throttle positions / rpm)? Just wondering....

While that is possible, they still shouldn't be as dumbed down as people are saying. The manual transmission cars are still getting just about the same mileage.

The GT500 is restricted in boost and TPS for I believe the first few hundred miles. Hopefully that's the case. If it's not, then it will just mean more business for SCT and Diablo. The old 5 speed benefited hugely from a tune to firm up the shifts.
I doubt that it's just for the break-in period. Lugging an engine at 1000 rpm can't make for a good break in. The trans programming is for efficiency.

The thing with the manual is that you either get the mileage or the power goodies. Switch to 3.73 gears and your mileage decreases, but Ford doesn't have to report it as I understand.

i kinda like the auto tranny in my parents Flex, not sure if it's the same as the Mustang.. maybe they can make the shifts a bit quicker and harder in the Mustang?

he dyno'd his 2011 gt.

it is off on power a little, and a/f ratio is 15:1 throught most of the run.

at high rpms it goes 10:1 rich. dont know why it is off so far. still made 365 rwhp.

LOL wow, there goes the idea that these cars are on the "ragged edge" and wont gain much from tuning. We recently found out that there are still good gains to be found from bolt ons, and now we can see that The factory tune is pretty much a pile of poo.
