Also, there may be ANOTHER fine aimed at them if we find out the actual cause of these "sticky" pedals (cough cough ELECTRONICS!! cough cough)

WAY too low. But it is the maximum allowed, so there is nothing that can be done about that.

So somebody figures $2 per car is adequate? The cost to repair each car ends up really being the only penalty............................that and the lawsuits they will now lose.

Seriously, this is good news. It also gives judges involved in Toyota court cases room to judge against Toyota.

Indeed. Sounds like a good number for fine unfortunately the article said the $16 million was the highest amount that could fined for this issue...

You were right. It was on a report obtained from Toyota who essentially bragged about saving the $100M by issuing a limited recall.

Hopefully the private lawsuits against Toyota will be more agressive and justified, because IMO $16M doesn't cut it.
