If you read the whole story, GM did have talks with Ford until Cerberus bought controlling stock in GMAC. At the time that made GM more solvent and no longer needed to talk to F___. For the most part the average consumer wouldn't notice a merger or aquisition by looking on the car lots. They would only know about it by what they here in the media.

Honestly, I think GM would protect the Chrysler heritage much more effectively than either Nissan on Renault, but at the end of the day, if GM decides that they're unable to purchase Chrysler without endangering themselves financially, then that kinda stinks, but GM has to survive, and I'm confident that they will, but touch decisions have to be made to insure that.

Hey if this gives a proper looking Charger as well as Chryslers and Dodges with proper GM quality then I'm all for it. Besides, wouldn't you all love the Challenger more if it had an LS3?

I doubt it will happen. There was talk a while ago too, like 2 years I think?

Plus, I think that Chrysler and Ford merging would make more sense. Their brands don't overlap as much as Dodge and GM would. Plus it would be more mutually beneficial. Ford quality and reliability has gone up significantly in recent years. Dodge has cars that, like em or not, you will notice them. And their SRT performance division currently has the fastest cars in their class (Camaro SS and G8 GXP aren't out yet)
