Where's a link to this SRT8 breaking 12's? You can break into 12's, but it still stands the SS is the indisputable superior to the SRT8. Actually I'm not fanboyish at all, I'll give credit where credit is due. However, if there is two equal cars that are offered then yes I'll go with the Bowtie.

what do you mean 2 years? the camaro wasnt out so there was no need to improve....dodge played it great coming out with the challenger before the camaro....made money off of it...especially the challenger being a low production car.

oh and like i said to the other guy.....do your homework and you will see that the gap isnt going to move due to the simple fact that dodge has its on 500hp motor coming in next year....oh yea thats a year earlier than the camaro. that should please you.

i have said all along overall..the camaro is superior...but i absolutely hate when people start acting as if the challenger doesnt do 0-60 in 4.7-auto or act as if it isnt anywhere near the camaro......

alright, bickering is over now. Camaro SS is faster than the Challenger in the 1/4 mile. This thread is about circuit performance, not straight line.

I'd hope the top of line Challenger can compete with the Camaro's mid-entry level car (SS). The SRT8 is supposed to compete with the Challenger, while the R/T competes with the SS. I hope they do outperform the SS considering the price difference, or that would just be an insult to Chrysler. Also, you'll need a lot more than horsepower to actually beat a Mazda3 around a track. Chrysler has really dropped the ball on performance IMO.

FYI, we just had this discussion on this site recently. None of the Dodge guys could show a bone stock SRT8 Challenger breaking into the 12s.

the thing you dont get is chrysler doesnt care.....its a low production model....they are satisfied with making a fast car that looks good....oh and the camaro barely beat the mazda so i dont think you can really say the camaro did all that well on its supposed great platform....the challenger is on a pure sedan platform....hence why it isnt a good track car.

Right now the SS outperforms the SRT in a straight line and at a track. And for about $10k less.

me nor chrysler care due to the simple fact that its a low volume car...it doesnt need to sell 100k a year like the camaro does....they build less than 30k a year.
oh and price out a fully loaded srt to a camaro and see how far the gap is in price.

and again lets get back on topic....

Wow, just the type of reply I'd expect from a Dodge fanboi. Make claims you can't back up, and when challenged to prove them say it's the other guys job to prove your claims.

We just had this discussion on Chrysler keeping the Challenger low volume and how stupid Chrysler is. Their sales numbers are in the toilet, yet the one car they have that is in demand enough to command dealer markups is the car they limit production on.

Of course options will narrow the price gap. But a base model 1SS is $10k cheaper than a base model SRT. And it outperforms the SRT on the track and at the strip. And it gets better gas mileage too.
