It does get annoying when someone posts like that instead of helping out. I know next to nothing about car stuff and don't always know the key word to search for... even then, the search isn't helpful sometimes. I'm sure I'm not the only one that has had a question and not asked because they didn't want to get bashed about it.

Actually, it's not bad, but it certainly isn't for everyone.... couple of things...

you can't say ooops, and run down to the corner store for something forgotten... so planning is a must...

you have to be able to live close to others,whether you like them or not... there is very very little privacy here on a rig...

we have catering crews that take care of the rooms, the laundry, and the cooking/cleaning... We have marine crews that take care of the boat... and the maintenance crews do the .... maintenance... I am a sub sea engineer and so I am kind of in no mans land, stuck between the drilling package and the maintenance crews...

Sounds.... different. They'd probably toss my butt off the boat within the first 48 hours. Even if I did bring sticky buns LOL

As for me and the wife,

Yeah, we miss each other at times, especially around that fourth week. But here is the good part.... We never get tired of each other. and we really enjoy each others company when we are home together...

Like any strong relationship though, there has to be a great deal of trust... Fortunately, she and i have that...

And, she doesn't care what I do for work, as long as it's legal...

The upside is they pay me huge amounts of money, but I work hard for it... This particular rig is considered the most difficult in out fleet to work... IDK, but i know when I get a chance for some butt time, I take it... they are rare times on here...

Not... you know what the women to men ration is out here... On most rigs, there are no women... and almost any rig would be no better than 5% women... nothing sexist, just most women do not apply for jobs in this environment... I've worked with some women out here that were awesome to work with... competent in their jobs and mix well with others, and some that were just looking for a way to hang someone... i guess there are all kinds in all areas of work...

My portuguese insructor is a wife and mother from Rio. Her husband is an IT guy in Rio.... she got tired of ambassadors and dignitaries and so she came out here... Great person,... Welder just showed up, gotta run...

nice to run across a happily married guy. Don't find many of them out in the real world. But I must say, most of the guys here I speak with on here are doing well, and happy.

The great thing I can say about working out here more than anything else... Is that, almost exclusively, not completely, but almost, there are a bunch of very hard working people, that work really hard, and play even harder... They don't get into other peoples business, they mind their own, and if you ever need a hand with anything, you can ask any of them and you got more than you ever asked for...

Life is Good all things considered, and Yes, I have a very blessed marriage and relationship with my very best friend in the world...

See you work the rigs in Texas. Really respect people in those type jobs. Good money but very Hard and dangerous work.
