I trying to figure out if my puter is going haywire... I've tried for several days to change my sig, and every time i go there it says IE error, must shut down, wanna send a notice to Microsoft... Dohhhhhh.....

I've been in and out of the office shop all night, waiting on the silly Brazilian welder...

Need to have some brackets hot metal glued to the tensioners and I am not "allowed" to do it myself.... hence, the wait.... but at the wages they pay me I can sit here all night....

I have just the fix for your puter problem. I've used it myself countless times and always keep one near by. Its called a 20lb sledge hammer.

I was reading the post about Scotty getting banned/suspended. Never would have thought that would happen.

i think someone posted that he might have posted a price on the forum... Big no no... but hard to do... it's very restricting, and I'm sure it drives the vendors crazy, since every time someone mentions some product some knucklehead comes on and says something intelligent like uh, I don't want one but how much.... so the vendors end up having to pm six hundred people and maybe 5 of them might actually purchase the item...

as for the puter problem... it's on the rig computer here in my office. My laptop doesn't do it... gotta remember to change it on my laptop...

i was in a thread the other day that made me want to change the sig...

I knew venders didn't publish prices, but didn't realize it was because they couldn't. I can see the point from both sides on this one.

What's it like living on a rig? Must be hard for your wife but at least she knows you can't get in much trouble out there. lol

Shoot, I get in more trouble out here than I do at home... she has a leash and a whip... spurs too...

Actually, it's not bad, but it certainly isn't for everyone.... couple of things...

you can't say ooops, and run down to the corner store for something forgotten... so planning is a must...

you have to be able to live close to others,whether you like them or not... there is very very little privacy here on a rig...

we have catering crews that take care of the rooms, the laundry, and the cooking/cleaning... We have marine crews that take care of the boat... and the maintenance crews do the .... maintenance... I am a sub sea engineer and so I am kind of in no mans land, stuck between the drilling package and the maintenance crews...

there are three primary groups of people on the rig... Co-reps, Petrobras employees, they make sure the job is following proper,(their plan) and that we are actually working, the rig crew, the employees of the drilling company... us, and the service hands... these are representatives from other companies the do jobs like MWD, measuring while drilling, mud logging, wireline, coil tubing and tool hands... Everyone has a job to do....

The service hands credo is that they eat until they are sleepy, and sleep until they are hungry... the rest of us work 12-16 hours a day for as much as 28 days straight... or 35 days if we work over a week...

It's really a good life, but as I mentioned before, it's not for everyone... if there is a problem at the house, we can't just drop and run... We miss birthdays, Christmas's, anniversaries, births, deaths, etc... The rigs work 24/7/365 non stop.... At 2 or 3 hundred thousand dollars a day from the oil companies, they do not let us take breaks so to speak.... the rig is working or we go on down time...
