I test drove a loaded G8GT last week, and I have to say its just about everything I hoped it would be! I've got my heart set on the G8 GXP but I wanted to make sure that the base car was at least good enough, and boy is it!
It's pretty damn fast, so fast I didn't want to look down most of the time to see how fast I was going! The brakes were FANTASTIC, and the ride was super-comfortable... but more than anything... the STEERING was a surprise! Best handling GM car I have ever driven based SOLELY on how good the steering felt! Not _quite_ up to BMW standards, but WAY better than anything I've ever driven from GM! Right now I think I am going to have to drive the GT and GXP back-to-back to see if the GXP is worth the extra cash... I love a manual transmission and I look forward to rowing my own gears, but the $$$ savings might convince me otherwise. Either way I have to give GM a big round of applause for producing this amazing car. Yes I love the Camaro. No I probably won't get one (since I'm one of those folks that needs the car-seat room as well). But the way I look at it, if I can load up my wife and kids and do a big smokey burnout on the way to the beach... life is good. ~LSx

G8 GXP projected release date: end of 2008/beginning of 2009. Not much longer!
The Camaro has more flash, but the G8 is the more practical car. Your choice of cars may be dictated by how responsible you have to be (i.e., having to haul your kids, or your clients, around town). One possible solution: buy both! |

I test drove a G8 GT two days ago. I was really impressed by how smooth the shifts were. I hammered it, it took off like a bat outta hell, and barely even felt the shift points. Incredible! I've never driven a car that shifted that fast. If I didn't have my heart set on a Camaro, I'd have bought that car.
