Are they kidding?
So in my local paper there's an '02 Trans Am WS6 advertised under "classic and antique cars" and the guy wants $26,500 for it. It has almost 30K miles.
I have a copy of the NADA used car guide from 2005 and the high retail (which is for a car that is basically flawless, excellent condition) was about 23K. And this was three years ago. Does this person or business think that the car has appreciated in value over the last three years? You'd think if there were a lot of extras/mods thrown on the car those would have been mentioned in the ad, but they are not. Don't get me wrong, the Trans Am is an awesome car, in fact if something happened and I didn't have the goat anymore, this would be my car of choice. But seriously...? My GTO was an '05 - like new, only 6,000 some miles and bought it this year - and I paid less than what this guy is asking!

He should be so lucky if he even gets that, the way cars even a few years old depreciate so rapidly. My dad always said the car drops $5000 in value when you sign the paperwork. Now that I think about it, this person may be upside down on their payments and trying to break even. I don't think that usually works.

It would have been fun to see "what he says" after you present the offer, nonetheless.

Last time I checked they don't make the Trans am no more, and no plans to make another one in the near future, I'd hate to say, but If he finds somebody that wants it bad enough, then it will sell!

sounds like a dealer here in fayetteville for a 98 SS they want 14000. and for two reasons, one it's very low miles, and two they paid to much for it. I paid about 4k less for my Z in 06 with less miles on it.

You generally ask more than you're really expecting when selling your car to give yourself room to negotiate down. I think this guy just went a little too far. Also, when its your car its easy to think of it as worth more than what the market says.

I know I'm bumping an old thread here, but the guy's ad has been running since I originally started this topic. Except now his asking price is down to $22,495...

Lol, since August? Still expensive, though. He should do a Christmas special. OR a Black Friday special.

Well, I've seen crazier things. In August of 2008, Geo Metro's 1989 Geo Metro's were selling for $5000-$7000. You just never know.
