That's a really catastrophic problem. MythBusters should try to induce this problem and see how far the truck will launch.

The Tundra is the worst thing to happen to Toyota. They rushed it, yet the Silverado still beat it to market. It was the start of all of their quality problems. And while it looks good on paper, the small things just aren't class leading, and reliability problems like this will turn the true truck guys away in droves.

Its just like the GM of the late 70s until recently. They grew big, invincible, and cocky. People would buy the stuff just because of the name and rep, but really it is sub par. Eventually it will catch up to them. Such is the cycle.

I like the 'Myth Busters' idea.
Maybe they can also debunk the myth that Toyota's are so reliable and indestructible.

When I was a teen five friends and I were in "Toms" fathers Bonneville. We pulled up to another guys house to let him out and missed the shoveled gap in the snow bank. So "Tom" instead of backing up did a neutral drop into reverse. We went nowhere. There was a loud "thunk". We opened the passenger door just in time to see the whole drive shaft roll down to the curb. Yup.... snapped it off at both ends.

this reminds me of whe ford recalled some off number of SUV's because the front passeneger side wheel had a tendancy to FLY off while driving down the road, and the again when they recalled Most RANGER CC bc it was hot wired to stay on

I keep saying it, Toyota and Honda make good little cars. Anything else and Ford and GM tend to beat them for reliability. But I can't get people to listen to me. The latest argument that I have heard is that places like Edmunds and J.D. Power are biased towards domestic vehicles
