Something tells me they aren't making it for more than just one year.

Oh, and how many units does the Viper sell every month? 28 last month?

Who's on top now?

The only thing I have heard...

http://www.autotropolis.com/auto-ind...roduction.html

Which would be smart. Focus on getting a competitive lineup out there that can compete with GM, Ford, and toyota and then build a high-performance car.

Kevin,

Could you buy a base model V6 Challenger (22k), and drop the V8 from the SRT in there, go balls to the wall with an aftermarket suspension and brake kit, and have yourself a 425hp 3700lb challenger?

yes i agree they need to focus on replacing cars like the avenger sebring compass etc etc. but why would you take away the viper?

I would put it on hiatus and redirect money and resources into building mainstream cars, then take a portion of the profit from those successful programs into developing a new Viper. Viper should be the least of Chrysler's concerns at the moment.

I'm saying the Challenger SE starts at 22k, and weighs 3700lbs

I bet you could buy one, do an engine swap, throw on an aftermarket suspension, brakes, tranny, swap out the heavy ass seats to counter the engine weight, and end up with a 425hp Challenger which weighs 3700lbs.... for no more than the 45k Challenger SRT.

Not a bad deal if it could be done, seeing as the car would be 500lbs lighter and no more expensive than an SRT with the same power...

oh no you could and it has been done....someone dropped a viper engine into one. it gets a bit pricey due to the tranny being garbage plus the brakes and all that good stuff. but yes you could do that.

Well I disagree with you on that. Just because a car is prestigious at one time, doesn't mean it will be prestigious forever. I AM NOT SAYING THAT OLD CARS CAN'T BE PRESTIGIOUS. I'M JUST SAYING THAT BEING PRESTIGIOUS ONCE DOESN'T GUARANTEE IT WILL BE FOREVER PRESTIGIOUS. And as for the charger, I would think that the corvette/viper would be THE American Muscle Car, but once again that's a difference of opinion.
And like I have stated countless times before, I don't dislike domestic cars. I just dislike it when people compare apples to peaches or fail to see the whole picture.

it will probably not be used since they are going with the 6.4 and the 426 is a 7.0 l v8...but what i am saying is that mopar finally decided to make a aluminum version of their big boy v8s. that is great news for guys who plan on swapping in engines in their mopars.
