You can drive a 328e or 528e a long time and get great gas mileage. As long as badly designed HVAC controls and persistant little electrical problems don't bother you. ![]() And I was just saying, If you see a Chevrolet or GMC C1500 with with 250,000 miles, you'd be like, "Big deal." An Accord with 250K and it's like "whatever" If you work in the automotive industry and you see a Mercedes Benz 380 SE/SEL with 250,000 miles and it's like, "whoa! this guy must really like his car to have already dropped 2 engines at their horribly inflated price into that damn thing." Ever seen a diesel Lincoln Mark VII? Probably not. The BMW diesel that powered it was short lived. Last edited by Beelzebubba; 08-17-2008 at 01:10 AM. |

Ok guys, let's try to be respectful of one another here...
It IS called Porsche as in Porsh-uh. I had to finally come to grips with that and admit that I was wrong after saying it wrong for many years. I call it BEAMER. ...as in Bee-mur. suppose you could also call it beemer. To answer the OP's question. Blur had it right... The Beamer is more luxurious and the Camaro is more agressive. Each model is a winner in my eyes in the looks department. It just all depends on what the buyer is LOOKING for. |

OK Beelzebubba, KatarHol I say we agree to disagree. And leave it at that. This has already become too childish. Agreed?

Looks: Camaro
Better engineering? We will have to wait and see! GM spent 'Stupid money' making the A-pillar, rocker, firewall, C-pillar and rear fender a ONE PIECE stamping. The new Camaro SHOULD be stiffer than the BMW which does not have that structure in it. Powertrains are a wait and see, but the LS engines are incredibly efficient performers that are dead reliable. BMW buys transmissions from GM for certain cars. The switchgear in my 2007 Tahoe easily beats anything I had in any BMW I have owned...and the Camaro is supposed to be even better inside than my Tahoe. I honestly think that the BMW will have a serious competitor in the SS Camaro. When you factor in the projected $10k-15k price difference...the CAMARO will spank the 3-series and IT'S Competition. I'm just a motorcycle first kinda' guy. and I do not like European cars. European cars really suck to work on. The plastic is really brittle and full of one way assemblies, blind fasteners, ...etc... Not only are they blind but there are 3 or 4 different size fasteners. Wanna' take apart a GM dash to install an alarm? Most often you will only need a 7mm. Thieves don't care. One good kick to a Euro-trash car and all that brittle plastic held together with 20 fasteners of different sizes is gone so it can't be an antitheft measure. Have you ever tried to check the ATF on a Mercedes Benz? There's a dipstick tube, but no dipstick. Just a cap that says MB WORKSHOP ONLY. So not only do they use different sizes and types of fasteners to hold thier brittle plastic pieces together, they are basically stating that you are too stupid to maintain you own car. And then the wiring is so badly designed and covered with this cheesy cloth tape that once unraveled, will not stick to itself or the wires again. It will stick to your skin and leave this greasy black crap on your clothes though. And what's up with VW and Audi leaving these huge 10 X1.5 live positive posts just hanging down under the dash begging to be short circuited by anything that conducts electricity? Thanks for the great power supplies but INSULATE THAT STUFF! I'll end my rant here before I go off on a 30 minute tear about the superiority of Cadillac's push-buton start vs BMW/MB/whatever.... |

it takes alot more effort to get 415hp out of a 4.0L than it does to get 450hp out of a 6.2L. And you show me a Benz engine that can rev to 8400rpm and we'll talk about engineering. Porsche takes the cake on German engineering, but their $$ reflects it. BMW's are GREAT cars, anyone who is blind to that is blind to what it means to build great cars. Quote:
Not to pick on you or anything, but you should tell that to the guys from BMW on the site BIMMERpost.com As for which one looks better, i think the camaro looks sportier/more agressive, and the BMW looks classy. take your pick.

A tick over 13.0 sec. and you're through the quarter-mile. It's a rush, of course, but not overly dramatic. Try the same thing with this pair's predecessors of 1970 or so and you'll find yourself in a bit of a wrestling match. Ain't progress wonderful? Maybe yes, and maybe sometimes it's fun to wrestle."

The C5 Camaro looks badass, especially the Black, so... in this case
2010 Camaro > 2008 BMW 328 As for engineering... BMW > GM Benz > BMW Porsche > Benz |
