Indeed....too bad gas prices went up, and the economy tanked, and credit froze, and -- oh, nevermind......

This is still very good news, and I want to enjoy it. No negativity!

U would love it to death.

Ironically I am kicking around the idea of buying a Camaro to replace my G6. Every time I see one I get the shakes. Sick part about it is that I may have to go with the V6... as having 2 LS3s, one LSA, and one LY5 V8 is just waaaaay to many V8's in my driveway.

I found it interesting that the Politicians exclaim that GM doesn't build cars that people want.. yet I find myself with two cars in my garage that have me literally trying to come up with excuses why I couldn't go to Easter Dinner so that I might have time to drive them both on this beautiful sunny day. I was lucky on that Friday that I was able to have a fairly nice sunny run up to South Jersey... via 95n in my LS3 Powered 477HP Z51... Just as fortunate that yesterday after the rain went away I was able to take my lovely wife out to Fogo De Chao for dinner in Baltimore.. where the valets went absolutely GA-GA over my super 556HP Cadillac V. I mean this isn't a strange thing.. My previous luxo car was a black 2005 STS 4.6L. That car tended to stop people in their tracks, despite the fact that GM neglected marketing it properly... or making it larger to compete with what it should have been competing... or give it an updated Direct-Injected or Super-Charged base V8 with more that it's.. or the M45's 320-25HP.

Truth is that cars like the CTS, Malibu and such simply personifies where GM could go.. where Cadillac should be across the board. The CTS-V is the reapings of what was before the financial meltdown... right before the new UAW contracts were to come on line.

The very idea of this car is ADDICTIVE. Cadillac took an already stellar car, tweaked it's suspension, it's braking, it's cool.. added one of the most durable, race-proven, efficient, and powerful engines in the world.. from one of the greatest cars in the world... and created a recipe that would have Mother Theresa turnin' trix on the Boulevard to afford the $65K askin price.

The car is MONEY, COOL, SLICK, SEXY, BOMBASTIC... whatever U wanna call it...

Beautiful car. I love the V's. I hope GM does as good a job (or better) with the ATS's.

Thank U.. but all I did was pick it out. I give credit to Ed Welburn and crew

As for the ATS.. My biggest hope is that it will get the proper drive trains to seriously compete with the German competition... I think these configurations would properly address BMW for instance:

2.0LdiTurbo 300HP, 3.6LDi 330HP, 3.6LDiTT 450HP Vseries
ATC (Coupe)/and ATC Convert
Mild Hybrid with Li-Ion (BAS II) Available on Aseries
Optional AWD available thru out the range

(This should also be the engine choices for the SRX as well)

I don't see a need for a V8 if the V6 is TWIN-TURBO to compete with the M3. If the C63AMG is the goal... then the torque of an LS3 might be the savior. 460HP is then a must IMO

I think the SRX is getting a 2.8L Turbo...that's what I'd like to see included in an optional "sport" package for the ATS coupe.

Yes... the SRX will have the 2.8L Turbo in about 2 weeks on lots. But as cools that engine is.. at 300HP/295lbs... it could be better. Opel's Insignia OPC clearly shows that the 2.8L can get at least 325HP, without even being Direct Injected. The 3.0L.. which is essentially the same engine with DI and no turbo... currently capable of at least 270hp/223lbs without Turbo. Adding the Turbo would clearly boost the 3.0L to 400+HP and much better torque numbers. I'm almost willing to say that the 3.0L absolutely NEEDS a turbo to be a performance engine.

I think the 2.8L Turbo is capable of better than 325hp. In a small Alpha coupe with a suspension upgrade...sign me up!

I think the stock turbo psi is about 8psi... I have heard of guys boosting the turbo up to 15... that would easily yield about 50HP over stock.. putting the 9-3X ate about 330HP without any other mods. My thought really is that GM should DIRECT-INJECT the 2.8L which would boost it's stock HP from 300 (in SRX) about 15%.. putting it at an easily acquired 345HP.. with some extra boost... maybe just to 12psi... we could see 350-355HP. Doing the same to the 3.0L would put U in the 380-400 range eclipsing the Lincoln MXK Elephant's 365HP from it's 3.5L Turbo

All those performance boosts are great but do you think we will get to the point where manufacturers will have to focus strictly on fuel economy and thereby leave the modding up to the customer.

Like maybe having a 2.8 turbo motor getting really good MPGs but making a host of aftermarket parts available thru the dealership exclusively just to meet MPG standards. Seems like the government is hell bent on making big horsepower cars go away and sooner or later the manufacturers will be held hostage by it.
