Sorry, not in the next 60 days. Since you already have a sportster (the Solstice) and being that you are in icy/snowy Canada, why not an AWD Equinox or Terrain? You can get the AWD even with the 4 cyl. engine. Auto trans. only though.

Both are good options. I have driven the new Equinox and I prefer the looks of it over the Terrain (It has not grown on me yet)...But we are being transferred to Texas-Got here Monday actually! So, I get to avoid the winters for a bit! I am more of a car person and know a 4 door is way more practical for a daily driver, but am very tempted to go with a 2 door this time...no kids yet, but if I get a car for 3-4 years you never know!

There are some gaps in the GM product line right now (will be filled in within the next 2-3 years as I'm sure you well know)...perhaps something like a Malibu SS...sporty but gives you the function of a sedan?

Styling is the hook that lets you drag people in. Funny story of how I ended up owning a 2009 Malibu.

Wife and I went to our friendly neighborhood Chevy dealer to see if they had a Camaro I could drool over one afternoon after watching Transformers 2.

Wife sees the Malibu and says "This is cute. I really like this" and a few hours later we've exchanged our Altima for a Malibu. If she hadn't liked how the car looks, we'd probably still have an Altima...

:(

I call it GM FINALLY realizing that the customer wanted MORE than just Adequate.

One of the most evident of this theory is the PREVIOUS Malibu. I remember reading somewhere a GM exec said the premise behind the last Malibu (2002-2007) was "Basic transportation.... an A to B car." That that is what the average customer wanted.

I guess that is why it took them 3 times before they got it right.. 2006 G6, 2007 Aura, 2008 Malibu...... Each division looked at the others then tailored their platform to fit their division's identity...(development time... your definition may differ from mine)

In my opinion, all three were better than the competition that they were aimed at. Saturn even put new Accords and Camrys on their lots so people could do a direct comparison to the Aura, and most, from talking to my Saturn dealer, chose the Aura over both the others...

To tell the truth the Malibu and Aura are just Chevy and Saturn versions of the G6, and the New Equinox is just a Chevy version of the Vue. just as the Lemans was the Pontiac version of the Chevelle. One is no better than the other, just each division's interpretation of the same basic car platform.

Thats another funny story how we ended up with that. That was a "we need car right now and they're open late and they dealt with us on price and financing" purchase.

At the time, my then future wife was driving back and forth 5 hours to see me on weekends and had the hood on her 95 beat to hell Corolla pop up on the interstate smashing her windshield for what I found out was the 3rd time.

I wasn't having any of that so I set out to get her a car "RTFN."

I will say, thus far, we've had the Malibu since end of July and its been a much better car than the Altima. Better interior along with a smoother quieter ride. Only thing I miss on the Altima is the smart key where I could leave it in my pocket...

I love manuals too. It is hard to beleive you cannot even buy a new GM pick-up with a manual. I guess there was such a low precentage of manals produced it just was not profitable any longer.

Its situations like this where I like to use the phrase "cream of the crap". Sure, it might be better than others but that doesn't mean its great.
