New Z is a cool car. Rear wheel drive and a manual. Interior looks nice. Very similar to a Camaro SS.
Sad that American manufacturers are moving away from these types of cars while Japanese makers are starting to make great enthusiast cars again. Toyota has the GR86, GR Supra, and the GR Corolla looks like it'll really rip. |

Yeah u prob need injectors but I still doubt these cars will outrun a well done camaro on lt4 fuel system. The problem is there are a lot of turds out there with the wrong combo not running right
The exhaust sound is the most important to me at this point considering what’s coming

As the owner of both a Z (350Z) and an SS 1LE I'm a fan of both vehicles. And I've owned several other Zs over the years including a 370Z. Although this is my first Camaro, its my second Chevy V8 powered car. I had a 2006 C6 with a 6 speed manual. The Z is historically a smaller and more nimble car than the Camaro. With the exception of the Z32 twin turbo the stock Z has been under powered when compared to other V8 powered competitors like the Camaro.
Early last fall I was looking for a new car to replace my BMW. I had been following the announcement by Nissan that the new Z was coming. However, it became obvious very quickly that the new Z was not going to be launched as quickly as expected. I have been a fan of the SS 1LE since it was first launched so I began looking for one. In my opinion it's the best bang for the buck all round performance car on the market. I am interested to see what the new Z is like to drive and what kind of reviews it gets from automotive journalists. If you will note the pre production prototypes have been out there for a while, but Nissan hasn't allowed anyone to drive one and review it. Also, Nissan has yet to officially release pricing. And Nissan recently announced that the car won't be available until the summer. Styling is subjective, but I like the blend of retro styling in the car. I can't wait to see one in person. Stock vs stock I still think the SS will have an advantage in a straight line, but we will have to see. I'm not sure about handing, but I expect the 1LE should have an advantage.

The fact that it’ll hang with a brand new car is saying something.
We didn’t get the intake manifold and camshaft refresh. This motor has been on the street unchanged since 2013

![]() I'll stick with this 1971 240Z I've had since 1987, and my 2022 ZL1 (and others). All great cars. I had a 370Z and Q60 Red Sport. Did not like the 370Z, but the Q60 motor in the new Z will be phenomenal, but I am not too excited over the design, especially the front. Waiting to see the NISMO version down the road. The new Z is heavy, as are most new models... https://jalopnik.com/2023-nissan-z-i...370-1848849717 I also have this 95 300ZX Twin Turbo

I like the Z and the Supra, I'd probably get a Supra if I had the cash. they're both just much more expensive than a 1SS or LT1 (well Z isn't on the street yet, but its looking that way...).

This is the only guy I've seen who Nissan has allowed to do a ride along video in the new Z
https://youtu.be/BNTCZ9VlDQ8 The car seems quick. But it's hard to compare with other vehicles without some real numbers for comparison sake.

Setting aside styling, which is subjective, and the sound of it, which is also subjective, the Z has 55 fewer horses, over 100 lbs less torque, inferior brakes, inferior rubber, no idea what the chassis is capable of, weighs 200 lbs less than a Camaro and has no performance numbers available.
I suspect stock for stock my 1LE will walk away from this car on the straightaways and embarrass it through the curves. Not to mention this guy is full of it. When he shows that shallow, narrow trunk (yes the opening is bigger) and claims it has more space than the Camaro? Clearly BS. |
