Also, that FPC engine sounds almost exactly like any Italian supercar, it's just difficult to get excited about this "see? we can do it too" design.

Reasonably speaking, this is a very respectable achievement, it's just that so far I've found little to excite me about it. Maybe if I drove one
Agreed, same for me. I need to get into Z06 trim level before it creates any excitement. The C8 Stingray looks ok but the wheel choices are weak and the rear end looks squished. The Z51 spoiler helps but not enough. The Z06 seems to fix a bunch of stuff. The rear exhaust with quad round tips looks much better and they Z06 with wider wheels and more attractive designs.

They need a Grand Sport model again that gives you the Z06 look without the price tag.

I'd be interested to know why the Lamborghini owner cannot get track insurance. I bet he's made too many big money claims in a short period of time and whoever he was using for track insurance jacked the prices way up on because if you can afford a Lamborghini, you can at least afford track insurance for a 2 day event at nearly ever track in the US.

It was probably because the cost to insure a car that expensive is a lot more money than he wants to spend. Someone I went tracking with a few weeks ago has an R8. He only insured it for half its value because the cost of track insurance for the full value was way more than he wanted to spend.

What keeps me from doing more track days in my Camaro is the cost of track insurance per event.

Yeah, track insurance is my biggest expense ~$200 for a scca tracknight, i too would do more events if were lower. It's too bad, I was actually looking forward to a 7th gen Camaro to depreciate my 6th gen car more .... LOL. Now with an unlikely 7th gen, and chip shortage keeping our values up, insurance is expensive.

The Z06 looks awesome! I'm so glad they went this direction, mid engine, high reving car. But that's going to be an expensive track day insuring it!

For a valuation of 32k, it was 360 through hagerty. Prior to the price hikes, track insurance was more reasonable due to the lower values of our cars 2 years ago.

Same! I want our cars to depreciate back to what it was 2 years ago. The insurance was way more reasonable then. When I bought my camaro late 2019, I bought it for 8k less than what I can trade it in for now. Back then dealers could barely give these cars away.

95% won't ever worry about that...

gm did a great job building a car that will satisfy almost all the keyboard ninjas/bench racers that won't ever own one while those that do buy them have a garage queen to discuss ad nauseum or the slow cruise to saturday cars/coffee.

it is an impressive car that, on the commercial, sounds like a high $$ exotic but based on my time in the neighbors c8, glad I live in 'merica and have choices.
cost/availability and locked ecu will be limiting factors for most that will consider this for racing over the next couple years.

Someone posted possible gear ratios for the C8Z and they look pretty shit for acceleration. Driving a C7Z right now with the A8 and racing A10 cars I can tell you those gear ratios make a big difference. The A10 is no slouch either on shifting speed.

I am not sure but he said the big track insurance companies will not provide coverage because of the value of the car. I am not sure if he is asking for more than the value of a stock huracan, or if even a stock huracan they would not insure on the track.

It didn't sound like he was filing claims but who knows. these track insurance companies though from what I see are not your typical insurers so I do not think they dropped his coverage due to claim history but who knows.

super nice guy though, the guy was in a built motor supercharged huracan, and he was super excited about the zle and my friends ss 1le. There were a bunch of other pretty crazy $$ cars on the drive too that he did not have any enthusiasm towards lol..

Too bad they couldn't get a 'Ring time to go along with the World on Notice theme...Sort of the main idea for a super-car, right?

Probably release it right before production starts for added hype

Also keep in mind C8Z isn't supercharged so it'll have +50 hp at the wheel vs LT4 making the difference more like 70 hp.

LT1 puts down about 405 whp, LT4 puts down about 550 whp... the 50 hp difference in power loss is the supercharger.

This is incorrect on the LT4. The LT4 makes 650 crank SAE certified horsepower after subtracting the parasitic losses from the supercharger which is around 60 hp give or take. So the engine is really making over 700 hp, but it takes 60 some horsepower at full boost to run the supercharger.

I think there’s more drivetrain losses in the ZL1 Compared to an SS because of the heavier duty drivetrain; heavier transmission, etc., Due to the high torque rating of the engine And the drive train required to handle that torque.
