-It wont likely be faster than a Boss (best mustang ever IMO) and a 1LE (expected) on a race track ...which is NOT what was "promised"...
-I think they wait for the '16 Camaro to release to bump up the hp ...waiting for the DI version?
-The 5.0 got better with better parts. I expect its gonna run like a mofo with boltons
-Better car? Yes. Better look?..not sure.. Still dont know how Ford crowd is gonna react.
-That 5.2l engine is gonna be monster. If the price is right (read better than the Z/28) I'm in. ...and the next Z/28 WILL exceed the current one, for less dough...
-Ford needed to get rid of that SRA. More weight was the only expectation to this. NOT according to Dave...
-Lot of lies were told about the weight. REALLY?!

Dear GM, are you LISTENING!!! We need a real engine!!! LT1 isnt enough LOL Better lose weight on the next Camaro!! Dont need the fancy carbon brakes..just the engine!!
C-C Brakes as part of an add-on package would be welcomed...by ALL consumers!

They will. But @ WHAT PRICE?

And don't for a New York second think that the Warren Warriors aren't massaging the details of something REALLY "competitive"...

It's a "concept"...but a clearly accurate vision of "what will be"....and clearly THE reason for the Stang's new size and weight. You CANNOT compete, as a Lincoln, against ATS-Audi-BMW-MB et al without a very solid 'n scienced platform to build from...

...which only adds to the head scratching for WHY the Stang in NOT "so much more" than it apparently is...

The ONLY "performance metric" that will clearly answer that question is SALES...and, in '16, when the fresh Camaro response arrives, "the gloves will be OFF..."

We have already seen what is coming from the LT1 with the new stingray vette. I would anticipate the gen 6 Camaro SS to weigh 100-200lbs less and have 440-450hp, 440tq bone stock. Intake, LT headers, Tune and you are almost 500hp at the crank. I wonder what Ford is up to. Not sure how much more they can do to the 5.0. They are gonna need a bigger engine bay for a 6.0L DOHC engine. :-)
On balance (something I ALWAYS strive for!), the S550 is, at this moment, where the Camaro was in the '10 model year. And we know that the Team was still fully engaged in defining and refining its offerings. The MARKET DEMANDS that the Stang Salon 'n Spa best be doing the same thing...RIGHT NOW!

And I'm sure they are...

Yep.

Based on these reviews, Ford just served GM up a home run pitch. GM just has to make it happen.

What surprises me is, with how well the 1LE did, Ford still didn't put enough tire on the performance package.

Here's something for Ford folks to ponder...seriously:

The C7 with LT1 and 8-Speed Automatic weighs just under 3500 lb, loaded with 3LT and Z51. Runs 11.9s...almost effortlessly...

A Gen-6 Camaro with LT1 and 8-Speed Automatic will, at worst, come in at/under 3,800 lb....and will EQUAL or BEAT the Z/28's 1/4-mile times...

Don't waste your money on a Mustang just yet...

Its just a rendering from carscoops.com....but I agree it is a vsion of what could be.

I'm not convinced that the Mustang is the size/weight is is due to Lincoln wanting a sport coupe. I think the Mustang is the size/weight it is because 1) They didn't want to downsize it much 2) The addition of IRS, a stiffer chassis, more safety equipment, suspensions, and brakes.

Its not just because it has to fit a Lincoln. But I do think that Lincoln may use the platform.

I agree with KMP on this one.

Yes I have heard the rumors that Lincoln is/wants to get their hands on the S550 for a halo car. ( which I can't wait for!)

Lol I've done the mods myself to a 5.0. A boss intake itself does nothing. Add a tune to go with it and you can rev it around 1300 rpm higher. That's where the gains are. It makes a noticeable difference. Around 4-5 tenths

It's a well-known fact that, at mid-stage development, "changes" were made. Those changes occurred after Jim Farley was given, amongst many responsibilities, the job of "reinventing" Lincoln.

Up to that point, Pericak's mantra of "at least 200 lb" was on-track. However, that version was more or less a "revised S197 with IRS" and a few other tweaks added. And that version was NOT what Farley wanted to work with...not to compete with the Lincoln version's intended competition. And the Lincoln models (plural) will NOT be just 2-dr versions.

And now the S550 is what it is...a far better foundation than a flexi-flyer S197-based version ever would have been. At the Lincoln's price point, there's budget for light-weight tech adoption, that will eventually trickle down to the Mustang...

Go to the "Mustang vs. Z/28" thread, over there, and there are at least 4 pages of posts DELETED and those posters banned. They don't take nicely to ANY "reality" in certain regards...

Those guys are beside themselves right now. Took down my posts because all that I said was the new Mustang will now be a dead run with the Camaro ss because of the weight gain and I also said that Ford only reacts to what Chevy does, they do nothing until they are forced to.....

So if you dont say something nice about the new Mustang they will threaten to ban you...
