But, as you said, an AWD Equinox will do just fine up against the "off-roading" 99.9% of consumers will do.

The "all wheel drive" is FWD biased. This is suitable for wet roads and the like, not for plowing snow and logging roads. |

Why would you want a CUV type vehicle to plow or do logging?? Come on man!! Are you aware that the Chevy Tahoe and Suburban exist???? Come on man be smart and think about what these cars are marketed for. Let me spell it out for you. Equinox and other comparable CUV's - Family/road trips/metro travel Tahoe/Suburban and other TRUE SUV's - Family/work/towing/getting major shit done (such as logging and plowing)

I said just a handful of message ago that I need off roadability and that I was being forced into a full-size which I do not want because of gas prices. I am well aware of the Tahoe and Subruban and the Silverado too (you left that one out). My point is that the Equinox is a good car for what it is but there is nothing LIKE it that fills the void in between. At least not from GM. They killed the TrailBlazer/Envoy for no good reason at all. Also, please stop jumping to conclusions. I never said I was "logging" with any vehicle. I said I need to be able to drive on logging roads to get where I need to go. As for plowing, I have a 300' driveway that a small plow on an old 4WD S-10 Blazer was capable of plowing, and that type of vehicle is exactly the kind of thing that the Equinox needs to be more like. Even the Traverse is a bad fit for real world use. GM needs to stop making toy AWD/4WD vehicles for posers. They need to take a serious look at making something to fill the void. |

So yes I agree with you there about the "void". But even the new Ford explorer might not fit the bill either. But hey yanno what, this is why I dont understand absolute brand loyalty. If another American company is making the type of SUV you need, why not buy it? Such as Durango, sounds to me like Durango would fit your needs and still get good gas mileage. Its real while drive with a true 4WD available. It still offers a v-8 engine and offers best in class towing. It just seems like people get caught up in brand loyalty way too much in my opinion. For me, if its American and it fits my needs, I buy it.

In the real world of $3 - $4 gallon gas, mid size RWD SUV's with plowing capability will be impossible to sell lot turds. They offer plenty of RWD trucks and SUVs for people that need have those uses. The small and mid size markets have moved more towards MPG driven. Retake econ and marketing 101. Has nothing to do with "posers," it's called building and selling what the market demands. With my 4 cyl Equinox as my DD, I'm getting 29 mpg. Same commute when I owned an Envoy was lucky to get 15, most often around 14.5. In a Silverado, it was about 16. 120 mile a day commute. Cutting my monthly fuel costs in half.... gee I wonder why they are selling so good. |

If you stay under 70mph you get the advertised 32MPG. But i usually got 78 MPH on our road trips and we still get 29MPG. Its a great vehicle plain and simple.

Most people don't do what you need a vehicle for. Thus we have equinox and traverse taking over which are more suited for the 99%. |
