6 weeks and still waiting for my Equinox....

Hey Guys,

Its been 6 weeks and im still waiting for my Equinox from the factory. Is this normal? The guy at the dealership who handled my order said it would be 4-5 weeks. He hasnt even gotten notification of shipment yet. Usually the vehicle arrives 7 days after that notification.

Also, 2010 Equinox production will be wrapping up VERY soon according to the salesman. Arent the Equinox and Camaro built in the same factory? 2011 Camaro already started production.

My leg is healing fast now and im going to need a car in a few weeks. Thats why im getting nervous.

Yes, it's normal. Equinox demand is very high right now, in fact, some analysts suggest the only reason it's not best-selling in its segment is because GM can't build enough in time. At launch, there were waiting lists that stretched for months.

Equinox's primary assembly facility is CAMI Automotive. They only recently started up production in Oshawa.

Ok but the guy told me that the 3rd week of June is when they shut down and "retool" for 2011 Production.

What did you order that is taking that long???

I have one, a 2LT 4 cylinder and love the thing. It is a really well built little SUV. And the 26 avg mpg is GREAT.

All I ordered was a standard LS.

- Cyber Grey Metallic
- 4 cyl engine
- front wheel drive

nothing special at all. If there was one in the area i would ask the dealership to simply acquire that one, but there isnt. :(

They would not be building the entire truck at Oshawa. To try to keep up with demand they are trucking some work for body from CAMI to Oshawa, but down time at Oshawa would not stop production of the Equinox. I'm not sure if there is down time scheduled at CAMI...I'll check.

I know demand is causing some people to wait, but it seems like you have been waiting a little long. Are you sure your dealer had allocation for your order when it was placed?

I think we waited almost 8 weeks to get our Equinox. It was worth the wait.
