Pin them to the wall and make Toyota pay. Their "shining time" in the sun must end.

The Left Lane News article is not true and was poorly researched:
'"US finds no fault in Toyota throttles" "However, Daniel Smith, an associate administrator at the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration, said on June 30 that “despite several investigations of Toyota’s electronic throttle control system, NHTSA has not been able to find a defect”." http://www.ft.com/cms/s/0/55e42f88-8...tml?ftcamp=rss Here <<<is the powerpoint for the presentation, and this is the meeting outline: http://www.trb.org/main/uastudy.aspx Daniel Smith's title is: Mr. Daniel C. Smith Associate Administrator for Enforcement National Highway Traffic Safety Administration Recall Management Division (NVS-215) 1200 New Jersey Avenue, SE – Room W45-306 Washington, DC 20590 ' They have not reached a final conclusion and that final conclusion isn't until next summer. However the WSJ article is completely accurate. He's not a plant and the agenda of the meeting and talking points are public record.

I knew that was way too fast and too far fetched to believe...NAIL THEM TO THE WALL and while we are at it: STOP THEM FROM SELLING ALL CARS IN THE U.S. UNTIL THIS IS RESOLVED AS A PENALTY FOR LYING!
Yes, I know that will put Americans out of work right now, but come on - these things are not only endangering the people driving them, but those of us on the road with them! Can you imagine getting broadsidded by the out of control Lexus at 100+ MPH because the brakes are on fire and unable to stop the car at full throttle? It could happen...it did for Mark Saylor and his family, as well as the owner of the Explorer they hit on the way off the highway. http://www.nbcsandiego.com/news/loca...-56629472.html

It seems that other, i.e. not specifically these Toyota reports, sudden acceleration complaints have been typically driver error. Also, as you've said, the investigations are still not done meaning some problem related to the mechanics/electronics of the vehicles may be discovered before then. The report saying that "NHTSA has not been able to find a defect," is a result of the already done investigations and not the ones to come. (1) Regarding the comments by the spokesperson, it seems that Toyota is getting inside information from a certain NHTSA employee. NHTSA commented saying that "The WSJ report was news to us." (2) So far, it definitely seems this was a marketing attempt by Toyota to save some face. (1)- http://www.freep.com/article/2010071...no-conclusions (2)- http://www.autoblog.com/2010/07/15/r...ted-by-toyota/ It is up to the consumer on rather or not Toyota pays. Not sure if I believe this. For the most part, this issue had blown over. Why would Toyota do anything to bring this issue back to the public's attention, even if it supposedly exonerated them?
Toyota screwed up bad enough with the pedal issue to begin with. If this does turn out to be true, that would be epic. I guess we'll find out soon enough. ![]() ![]()

Dirty, dirty, dirty....I hope this is true. As sad as it is to WISH for corruption and dirty dealings, they got off WAY too easy for what happened. This could, as others have said, pin them to the wall.

Unfortunately even if it is true, gov't won't do squat. It will have to come from the buying public to make them pay.

We should make this a starting point for ridding the country of all this corruption from the top to the bottom and everywhere in between. No more lobbies, no more earmarks, no more quid pro quo, none of it!
